The WW1 Memorial at Bangor University includes a 2nd Lt Cadwaladr H Jones, RFA.
North Wales Chronicle of 4th October 1918 reports (paraphrased) "The flag of the University College was at half mast on Wednesday at the report of the news of the death of 2nd Lt Cadwaladr H Jones RFA at the age of 27. Lt Jones was the son of Mr William Jones, Hill St Lodge, Brymbo and entered College in 1909. graduating BA in 1913. He was a member of the college OTC and entered the army in 1914 as a Pte in the North Wales Pals Battalion of the RWF. He was a prominent member of the University Football team."
He is not shown on CWGC or Officers Died Great War and there is a Cadwaladr H Jones in Q3 1918 at Wrexham of the right age (which rules out a death in service abroad).
Initial research of medal cards do not indicate service abroad and that he may have been discharged before he died.
The University certainly viewed his death as war related and I'm sure he will be on a local Memorial to his home area.
He may very well have died of Flu given the period but I would be grateful if someone could tell me if there is any further information locally about him,e.g any newspaper reports that may provide further info re his service and cause of death. Of particular interest would be what is shown on the Death Cert if that is known.

Thanks for that. I did search the name on the Forum Search facility but it didn't turn up!
I've just noticed now that there is a 'last 7 days' default on the search function. I didn't scroll down. Even so, our posts don't show when searching cadwaladr. Am i doing something wrong? Gwil

The search facility is not working, I have told Llosgi about this. It is a real pain having to trawl through the site. You can search for Jones in the last 600 days and not get a result. Sometimes if you Google for what you want , it will find it on this site for you. Feel free to have a moan yourself about it ;D

Feel free to have a moan yourself about it ;D I would if I wasn't a newbie. I would say that a 7 day default on a 'historical' site is not much. If it worked and I wasn't a newbie that is. ;D

Hi Eluned
My WW1 interests are based primarily in Caernarfonshire and I was going through some newspaper material concerning Bangor when I saw the info as per post 1. As well as the 'local' Memorials I'm noting material relating to those on the Memorial at the University.
