Do you have any approx dates of Aunt Sally being at Llidiart Fanny Cottage? Who was she living with? Was she married? All info will help in the search

She doesn't seem to be there in 1911, I've done an address search but the index is very badly transcribed. Lots of different residencies appear listed under Llidiart Fanny so I'm guessing in may have been a name used for that part of Coedpoeth near to the farm ie Hoel Offa, bottom of Talwrn Rd and Adwy Lane. Link to your previous thread. minerahistory.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=neighbour&thread=1114&page=1#7339Are you local and therefore able to check any directories or electoral registers for the area?

in 1891 i have griffith edwards living there with his family but sarah (sally i think)) is not there .But in 1901 griffith edwards is listed as living 9 heol offa bersham so i think sarah jane may have moved back to llidiart fanny cottage

It may be that Hoel Offa is where the shop was This area as previously mentioned, seems to have been listed in the census as Llidiart Fanny! It could be that I'm wrong and you have confirmation of Sally's shop being at the cottage of that name. If so please let us now what info you have please. Is anyone with local knowledge able to shed any light on Sally and the shop at all?

Hi,
Llidiart Fanny (invariably written as "Vani" or "Vaney" on the old parish records) was also the name of the immediate area as well as the farmhouse - this was stated by Alfred Palmer in his article Offa's and Wat's Dykes in Y Cymmrodor. Palmer was usually pretty reliable.
(As the word "llidiart", "gate", was a feminine noun in Bromfield, it's been suggested that "vani" was a mutation of a name like "Mani" - "Mani's gap", "Mani's gate").
Anyway to get back to the original point, yes, the name was used for the part of Coedpoeth below the Talwrn.
