I am trying to link the former occupier of Llay Hall Farm (1960's) to my family. I think the farmer was John Edwards and married to Polly (May be her maiden name was Mary Clark (e) from Hope) I think it was their daughter living in Llay Hall cottages or Llay Bank close to the farm. She was married to a McDonald (I know he went for a pint in the Holly-bush & worked on the highways) He was known as Mac in the family and she as Girly. Their Christian names are forgotten. I think Polly Edwards was related by marriage to my family (Foulkes from Gwersyllt) Any info would be great.
Farm & cottages is down lane on right at the bottom of the dip when travelling out of Cefyn y Bedd towards Llay

Hi John I think this thread seems to have got missed so I'm posting to help get it some attention To confirm the names of the residents of the farm and Llay Hall cottages, you could check the electoral registers. Can you give an approximate age for the daughter?

Thank you both for your interest.
I'm not sure of the age of the two people but I guess this in the early 1960s when I knew them they would have been in their late 50s and early 60s. I intend to go to the records office at Ruthin in the near future to have a look at the electoral rolls of the period.
With regard to the Foulkes family my great grandfather was William Foulkes b1858 who lived in Fairfield Cottages, Gwersyllt. the cottages are no longer there but were not far from the post office near the railway station. William was born just over the Staffordshire border from Cheshire at Mow Cop but his father (Miner) originated from the Mold area. William was married to Sarah Hughes b1858 from Gwersyllt and she died in 1904. William died in 1934. All the children moved out of the area in the early 1900s to as far afield as Argentina, Portsmouth, Connah's Quay and Shrewsbury - so none of the descendants left locally apart from me!
Sadly, Sarah and William the only great grandparents I do not have photographs of.
Many thanks

It's the A N Palmer Centre that has the electoral regesters for that period, (from 1949) for the Wrexham constituancy. Before that date you would need to go to DRO at Ruthin.
