Death. Eric Vaughan Pritchard born 23 May 1920 Death Dec qtr 1999 Denbighshire North Clwyd . The two most likely marriages for Marjorie, age and area . Marjorie Pritchard / Donald Millington Apr-May-Jun 1948 Wrexham . North Wales BMD has this taking place at Llay, St Martin. OR Marjorie Pritchard / Frederick C Maddocks Oct-Nov-Dec 1951 Chester This marriage in Llay doesn`t seem to be a match. Marjorie was 21, lived in Llay and her father was John Henry Pritchard. There was no death notice in the paper for Eric Vaughan Pritchard 1999,. A very small entry in the death notices 1949 about Edward Reece Pritchard, of Ivy Cottage, beloved wife Ethel. No family mentioned. I will try to find if there was anything on Ethel when I have more time.

A visit to Wrexham Cemetery this afternoon.
Definate family. This grave has no stone. It was purchased by Edwin R Pritchard leather dresser of 17 Smithfield Road, on 29 March 1910 the day before his mother was buried. PRITCHARD EDWIN REECE age 75 01565 PRITCHARD MARY ELIZABETH age 80 01565 PRITCHARD BARBARA age 1W 01565 VAUGHAN HARRIET age 83 01565
Edward Reece Pritchard is buried on the Ruabon Road side of the cemetery, nowhere near his parents. There is no headstone.
Ethel Pritchard 1952 Ethel Pritchard is not Edwards wife. This has a headstone. In loving memory of a devoted wife and mother Ethel Pritchard 13 Caia Road. Died Sept 20. 1962 aged 52.
Graham the superintendant checked the burial register for me. The plot was purchased by Caradog Winston Pritchard, motor mechanic of 13 Caia Road,
A Caradog W Pritchard birth registered Jun qtr 1909 Ruabon.
Caradog W Pritchard married Ethel Jones Dec qtr 1930 Civil marriage. Wrexham
1911 Chapel St, Ruabon all born Ruabon. Henry Pritchard 51 b Ruabon Mary Ellen 41 John ?? 18 Lawrence Trevor 11 Caradog Winston 1
BMD. Ethel Hayward born Mar qtr 1889 Wrexham Ethel Hayward b Mar qtr 1889 Ellesmere
No idea when she died, I wonder why she wasn`t buried with her husband, and also if he lived in Minera why wasn`t he buried either in Minera Church or Coedpoeth Cemetery.

I have found the death of an Ethel Pritchard born 23 12 1884 she died in Wrexham Maelor Dec Q 1976 and I am guessing she would have been Cremated and suggesting there could be an Obituary for her somewhere. These may give good info Tom

Annette seems to think that the link to Ethel is not correct as the info she has does not fit. We now draw a blank on Edward's wife for the time being.

I think Annette is referring to Ethel who died in 1962--this is a different one. Did you get her fathers name and was it Francis ?? Tom

Tom The grave I found was for Ethel Pritchard who died 1962 aged 52. Therefore she was born c 1910. I found the marriage on BMD , and have no details on her father. Caradog W Pritchard married Ethel Jones Dec qtr 1930 Civil marriage. Wrexham

These may give good info Tom This one would be of the right age to be the wife of Births Dec 1886 Pritchard Edward Reece Wrexham 11b 268 1918 Mar qtr. They both would have been in their 30s PRITCHARD Edward R / Ethel Hayward. Wrexham, St Giles . The best thing is to find this at the museum and start from scratch. We should get her age and father at least.

Hi, I am just going to throw this in the pot so to speak-it is a civil marriage in Wrexham for Ethel M Pritchard to Sidney G Halpin in Jun q 1944 If my memory serves me correctly Marjories husband was named Sid. Also I am suggesting Ethel Hayward was poss not born in Wrexham ::)I am sure it will all become clear soon ;D Tom Soree Have corrected my error

I think the info I have sent to you from Nellie clarifies issues. She suggests that Marjorie is Ethel Marjorie and she married Halpin. Edward,s wife perhaps was also called Ethel and hence the marriage you found, Annette, in 1918. Seems to fit.

RESULT A lot of `behind the scenes ` research , and an amazing find by Nellie has resulted in Keith being able to get in touch with a close relative.

When I worked in Wrexham, I seem to recall a firm of window-cleaners that we ( my Company ) used in town known as Halpin & Hannaby ( in the early sixties )of which one of the senior partners was a Sidney Halpin, if thats of any interest. Hen Locsin

I think Mr Halpin is the father of two daughters who now appear in my family tree. Thank you so much for the info. I hope everyone will keep giving info. I am especially keen to find out more about David Pritchard, son of Eric Pritchard and Blodwen Hughes. he was born in March 1944 and is the only surviving son of ERic Pritchard.
I am afraid I am going away for two weeks from Tueday to the Baltic (I work on the cruise ships) but I hope to be able to pick up the internet. If not, please accept my apologies for an apparent non response to any in coming messages

I could see where you were coming from with the Ellesmere Ethel as there were connections with the Pritchard family in Ellesmere. Until the marriage details showed her father as Joseph and the address in Erddig Rd, I would have put my money on the other Ethel. It goes to show how helpful marriage certificates can be in finding the right person from the census. Nellie
