A bit of searching: a Charles Ireland ran a photographers at 25 Lower Mosley Street, Manchester, in the first couple of decades of the 20th century. Certainly looks like it could be a group of councillors or perhaps the board of a firm?

Ago Looking at the aircraft photos, They appear to range from th 1930's up to the 1990s. There is a biplane, certainly a German 109, a RAF Vulcan, and a RAF WW2 bomber. Given that they cover a history of aircraft from perhaps 1930s to the present day aqnd that they are in colour I would suggest they have been taken from airshows. Given the age span of the aircraft I would not expect them to have been taken by the same person.

Ado Reference last message, I think that the aircraft photos are 1, Lancaster, Vulcan. Thunderbolt, German 109, German Heinkel bomber, Swordfish, Hawker Hart, Hercules and he photo of the tail unit is that of a Jaguer but that one is difficult.

Where was the demoliton site, I know Manchester, but it must have been a building or houses. That might give some clues. They don`t seem to be looking at the camera very formally.

it was found in Lloyd street in a skip between the town hall and the library Manchester, that's why I thought they may be councilors officials,

Well the trouble is that Ireland accepted commissions from as far a field as Scotland. But if it was found in the city I guess it might be either Manchester or Salford, it may even be connected to his father who had studios in Manchester and elsewhere and started in the north of the city. Have you a location in the city for the find?

We`ve been asking about this elsewhere and had some interesting suggestions.
******************************************** 1 Looking at the top of the wall the design looks uneven so I would think the group are in one half of a larger room. The carpet seems to confirm this as there are two large carpets on the floor.
Then there are the faces of the men. The man in the middle who looks like he is writing in a very large book looks older than the rest so perhaps he is the main man. There are also a lot of younger unbearded men on the edges at the front with a couple at the back to the right hand side which could suggest older and younger generations.
Did wonder if the men are members of a Bank or some sort of Club. One man appears to be reading so perhaps not a formal photo especially as the men sitting on chairs are not in a symetrical position and there is the edge of a larger table to the right as well.

I think that is a very good suggestion. There is a photo of them here in 1865 in a very similar pose. About a third of the way down the page heregerald-massey.org.uk/brierley/index.htmI wonder if it is worth contacting the owner of the site. He has lots of photos of members of the society who all look like grey haired bearded gentlemen - and some are very similar to the ones in the photo. eg Benjamin Brierley, Samuel Layc-ock, Edwin Waugh.

Now the problem with Lloyd Street is that while it does run past the Town Hall and the Town Hall Extension it then swings round the southern side of Albert Square and down off towards Deansgate. But the Town Hall Extension has been undergoing refurshment for the last two years, so it hangs on where on Lloyd Street. I rather think it might be a throw out, but I don't recognise the rooms as being from the upstairs rooms of the Town Hall. Would you mind if I posted it on the blog while circulating around friends who also know the Town Hall well? Might be easier to reply direct to me at andrewbeechroad@sky.com

Well just read the message about Lloyd Street between the Town Hall and Central Ref, more certain than ever that they are connected to the Town Hall. But the connection Brieley and Waugh is interesting. They were very involved with recording Lancashire customs and working class poets. The fashions seem to suggest late 19th century but Charles Ireland was operating at the back end of that time close to the 20th century

hello Andrew, any info is another step towards their identity, yes you can do what you want thank you for your research and valuable input, on close inspection the gentleman seated third from the left looks to be missing his little finger left hand (pic 2 with flower in lapel)and last on left is standing on back of chair.
