Minera Lime Works 1860's I have just discovered a marriage in the Wrexham Advertiser dated 19 September 1861 that took place in Rhyl married by a Rev Hugh Morgan - John Owen manager of the Minera Lime Works to Elizabeth 3rd daughter of Samuel Jones Brymbo works. I know plenty about Samuel Jones and the rest of his family but so far nothing about the above couple. As yet haven’t found the marriage even.Has anyone any knowledge about John Owen as manager of the lime works Any help with the above marriage would be appreciated too

I now believe that I have solved my own problem - Wrexham Advertiser has misprinted or misheard and the manager was a John Niven and the marriage took place in Rhyl church. So I need to see that record to confirm my theory.

I should like to add that I discovered the following - I discovered a John McClymont age 39 then in Brymbo in 1851 at Penrhos Farm and a sister Isabella McClymont Niven a widow from Perthshire with him. She's buried in 1854 in Brymbo church so as I haven't seen the marriage record at Rhyl church I don't know whether she was his mother or was he the above John. Elizabeth his wife died age 23 in 1864, buried Brymbo. From London Gazette he became bankrupt in 1863

Isabella McClymont was John McClymont Niven's mother. She was a widow to Ninian Niven (b 1780 d 1850 Lecropt Perthshire)gardener at Keir House (home of Stirling Family). His eldest son (1st marriage) Ninian Niven (1799 - 1879)was also a renowned gardener in Dublin. Did John McClymont Niven go to Dublin after the death of his wife Elizabeth Jones in 1844 and his bankruptcy, of which I was unaware? Did he have a family to Elizabeth?

Elizabeth Jones Niven died 1864 not 1844 Apologies. Where is the headstone? - perhaps John is buried with her. There is a John Niven died Dublin South 1868 aged 34 which corresponds reasonably to his actual birth in 1833. I note that there was a Ninian a witness at John's wedding. It would have been his half brother Ninian b 1799 d 1879 Dublin North or his nephew Ninian (son of William) b 1846 d 1917. Are the references to Ninian locally in Wales, Did he live there at some point?
