Anne,
Sorry haven't been in touch with any more info. I decided to give the research a bit of a break and come back to it with a clearer mind. Been soooo hot here this summer, and not a good time to think through all this. Will get back to it. Earthquakes and heat quite offputting. Regards
Barbara

Annette, finally I have found a small window to do some more research on the Evans family you had researched previously. I came across a person on Ancestry with a tree that includes Catherine, Elizabeth Clampett, Mary, Thomas. I have written to them to see if they can enlighten me any further about this family. I will let you know how I get on.
I did see on the 1871 Census for Thomas that further down the page was an Edward Evans and Phebe Evans in the same sreet. followed that through but it ended up Edward had something to do with Cattle, so discounted that. Shame thought it might have been a connection there.

Hi Barbara. What did you find about this one. 1871 I can see Edward 22 (b 1849) and Phoebe 19 have a lodger . John Mahon 26 a sawyer born Neath, Ireland. Quite a similar name to Catherine and Mary Mc Mahon..
18th August 1868. Married in the Parish Church by Banns by ? Davies, Curate. Edward Evans, minor, bachelor, forgeman, Brook St. Father Thomas Evans, plasterer. Phoebe Pickering, minor, spinster, Pentre Felyn. Father Henry Pickering, labourer. Edward Evans makes his mark, Phoebe Pickering signs her name. Witnesses are ? Roberts and Mary
This is interesting, I don`t think we found this before. Thomas is a plasterer ! The Walks were very close to Harrisons Court and Abbot Street.
1851 The Walks , Wrexham . Thomas Evans 39 PLASTERER / JOURNEYMAN b Wrexham . c 1812 Sarah Evans 36 b Wrexham Joseph Evans 17 plasterers labourer b Wrexham Thomas Evans 15 nailors apprentice b "" c 1836 Edward Evans 3 b "" b 1848 Jane Evans 3 b ""
This is what we already have, and I put it here to compare. I`m not sure where we are going to with this , but .......
1871 2 Harrison Court . Wrexham Thomas Evans 37 labourer b Wrexham c 1834 Catherine Evans 40 b Ireland Mary Evans 15 b Wrexham Albert Evans 13 “ Sarah Ann Evans 11 “ Eliza Evans 9 “ c 1862 (Elizabeth)
1881 64 Upper Potter Street. Everton . Liverpool Thomas Evans 44 slater b Wrexham c 1837 Catherine Evans 49 b Ireland Elizabeth Evans S 19 b Wrexham b c 1862 Mary Mc Mahon S step daughter 29 b Ireland

Hi Annette, Yes, did see the lodger John Mahon and like you wondered about this. Didn't follow through at this stage as only had a short time to do anything. I have looked for a death of both Thomas and Catherine but have found nothing. Just needs more time I think and more investigation. At the moment my time is short for this, but I will get to it every now and again.
I will write to Crosby Library in Liverpool where they do have electoral rolls for the area where Thomas & Catherine lived in Bootle and when Edward also lived there. I have worked through electoral rolls before to establish few things so that may or may not help.
Yes, the other Thomas you found as a Plasterer is interesting. Will follow through on that one and see what I can find.
Thanks once again for the time you spend researching this.
Regards Barbara I have found so often that Christian names have been passed down through the family. Sarah is one. One of the twins was Sarah Esther and my Aunt was Sarah also of course Thomas was one and used twice in the names of Edwards children and again, I had an uncle with Thomas in the name.

Hi Annedw Nearly two yrs ago you helped me out with some information on my Evans family. All info above re the research. I have recently had a DNA test done and there was a match that has a possible connection to the Elizabeth /Evans/ Clampett that you found. We are working through it but it was a match with my DNA so could be a breakthrough afterall. Good things come to those who wait!!!.
Again thank you for your info and time researching, will keep you in touch re the outcome.
Kind regards Kiwibarb

Hello again.
Since the time we were researching this family the GRO index has had a new look, you can now get mothers maiden names. This is very useful.
I`ve had a look at the Evans and Clampetts, who are entered as Clampitt and this is what I found.
To use the GRO site you have to register , it is free.

Hi Annette,
Yes, use GRO a lot for looking for info. I do have Edward & Ellen's children's birth certs and in some cases their death certs as well. The Swansea one, not sure on that one but certainly worth looking at as I cannot find the Carpenter or Evans families in 1881. Some of the Carpenters did go to Wales, but not to Swansea as far as I am aware, mostly Bedwelty area. Thank you again for taking the time to look at this info.
I will certainly keep you in touch as to whether or not this does turn out to be part of my family. Have written to the DNA match person again but no reply to date.
Stay warm and safe.
Regards Barbara

Hi Annette and Sharonbrown 2
While I had my DNA tested, so far I haven't really come up with anything there apart from the Thomas Evans/Elizabeth Jones family connection. However, I have had a professional researching my Evans family. It seems we were right on the button with the first Evans family researched. That of Thomas Evans and Elizabeth Bury/Berry. Thomas was the son of Enoch Evans born 11 April 1801 Pentre Fron Bapt. 23 April 1801 and Susan/Suzannah Williams. While this is still not concrete the Conclusions that the researcher sent in her 7 page report is:- Such uncertainties start with Edward's 1907 marriage and the lack of the key occupational detail with regards his father that is absent from that certificate. Such a key detail would have been crucial in helping to conclude with any degree of certainty the link with the earlier records in the Wrexham area. Part of her last paragraph reads: When such a strategy is followed and when no key detail or document exists to prove the crucial link, any conclusions presented therefore have to be prefixed with the word "probable".
Sharonbrown2. Quoted from researcher. Thomas was a native of Bersham, born there some time between around 1829 and 1833. The 1871 Census presents a more specific place of birth for him, namely Adwy'rClawdd a small village in the vicinity of Coedpoeth. Thomas was in fact the son of Enoch and Susan/susannah Evans and was baptised in Wrexham parish church, 266 April 1829. Sharon you mentioned in a previous post that Enoch had an illigitimate son, could Thomas be him?? Sharron so it is more than likely that we are part of the same family. The researcher was a Welsh Researcher with very good credentials, including Who do You think you are.
I still have a bit of research to do looking at the rest of the family. Some of it though is done which makes that easy now.
Look forward to hearing from you both re this info and thank you both too for the help in finding some of this info initially. Kind regards Barbara

After looking at the above information, I do believe we have the dame family. It is very complex so I might get us all confused. The Thomas that you have been looking for is not mentioned as a child of Enoch Evans b.11/4/1801 married to Susan Williams C1801 of Clocaenog. The children I have for this family are Ruth Bapt 1821 Clocaenog (father unknown) Enoch (Den) Bapt 1827 Clocaenog (married Elizabeth Davies and later Mary Dodd) ----- This Mary Dodd was married first to Aaron Evans brother to Enoch (Den) Anne Born 1832 Adwr y Clawdd (possibly married Joseph Reynolds Aaron born 1835 (married Mary Dodd 11/4/1862 St. Giles, Wrexham, whom she later married brother of Aaron Enoch Hannah Circ.1841 (possibly married Robert Blackshaw) Jane circ.1844 Mariah Circ.1847 It does however, seem strange that the Thomas we are looking for (and I do not have record of) is not within the family, but his marriage to Elizabeth Bury does pretty much confirm he is from the same one, as Aaron his brother being witness and Enock Evans being his father and also the marriage between Enoch and his brother Aaron both to Mary Dodd also proves the connection. I hope this doesn't sound too confusing and that it makes sense. If you think otherwise, please correct me.

Sharon, I have had my family tree done by a professional in Wales, very reputable one and it seems as though we "may" have the same family in Enoch Evans and Susan Williams. m 10 March 1828. I know you have mentioned that it is quite complex as Susan Williams had a illegitimate daughter which was included in the report I received. Can we chat again about this family. I will attach the tree that was sent to me and you can look at it. My Gt Grandparents are Edward Evans and Helena Rosina Carpenter/Ellen. Twins are missing from their children. Ellen and Sarah Esther b 1900 d 1901. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards Barbara

Hi Barbara, lovely to hear from you again. Did you try to contact me via Ancestry? Sorry for not replying there as I am no longer a member on that site. Hi Sharon,
Yes, I possibly did try to contact you via Ancestry. Wrote to a few people.
We chatted about this family back in 2016 and I have now had my tree I have done a bit of searching since receiving info from a researcher. Last time we were chatting you mentioned you could not find a Thomas,s/o of Enoch and Susanna Williams. Thomas was baptised April 26 1829 in Parish of Wrexham to parents Enock and Susanna, I will attach a copy for your info. Thomas is not found with any of the family though. I guess timeline is the thing here. The first I have found of Thomas and Elizabeth so far is 1871 with their family which includes my Gt Grandfather Edward Evans. They had Edward bapt 7 December 1856 Minera Parish Church. His sister Elizabeth b 1858 was also born their. She died as an infant. The family moved to Oswestry area. St. Martins where 3x more children were born. Anne 1861, Thomas 1863, Alice 1864. The family returned to Cloedpoeth where Mary was born about 1869. Thomas d Nov 25 1893 and Elizabeth d Oct 24 1898.

Hi Barbara, many thanks for baptism record of Thomas. I haven’t been on Tribal pages for a long time so I don’t know if my tree is available to see, however I do have my tree on Genes Reunited so you may be able to access it there or I could send you a copy through the post, whichever you prefer. But looking at your information, we pretty much have the same data for Enoch and Susannah. As you may already know my lot come from Enoch brother to your Thomas. I’m sure I have post most of my Evans line on this website, but if there is anything else you may need, please do not hesitate to get in contact Many thanks Sharon

Hi Sharon,
Yes, was able to access your tree. It is the Evans family that I am interested in and it certainly seems that our families are one. I have looked through the pro board info and it certainly looks like there is a connection. I am the GG Grand Daughter of Enoch Evans and Susan Williams. Their son Thomas Evans bapt. April 26 1829 is my GG Grandfather m Elizabeth Bury/Berry 7 April 1855 ERbistock Parish church. Thomas's son, Edward, my G Grandfather is the father of Albert Martin Evans my grandfather who was born in Liverpool. Albert along with his wife Annie Keatinge, and 5x of their children emigrated to New Zealand in 1923. My mother was one of the children.
So as you can see I am a long way from Wales. Still have research to do on the family to sort out a few other bits and pieces. Do you still live near Coedpoeth. I am not familiar with this are as have only visited Wrexham on one occassion looking for info. If you would like to see my tribal pages tree it is Evans/Keatinge. Happy for you to view. Do need invite.
Looks like another visit is on the cards to further my research and see the area where my family came from.
Regards Barbara
