I am looking for information regarding an Enoch Den (mentioned in "Coedpoeth as it was"). Would anyone happen to know of his original surname. I have an Enoch Evans who married Mary Evans-nee Dodd (widow of Enoch's brother Aaron) in my tree. I'm just curious as to see if this Enoch is mine and if so, would anybody have any idea as to where he and his wife may have been buried. My Enoch had been married previously to Elizabeth Davies. She died in 1873 and is buried with some of her children in the Adwy Cemetery. No Enoch is buried there as far as I can see on the gravestones. Any help would be gratefully received Thanks

Hi Annette, Yes you do have the correct family. Enoch (son of Enock Evans and Susannah Williams) married his first wife Elizabeth Davies (daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Davies of Penygelli) on 28 Jan 1854 at St. Giles, Wxm. This wife died 10 April 1873 and is buried with her children Elizabeth d.1/1/1859, Thomas O d.18/1/1863 and David d.7/3/1872 at Adwy cemetery. Enoch married his second wife Mary Evans (nee Dodd) in 1888, a civil marriage. I haven't been able to find where they are buried and was just curious to find out if they were Enoch Den and Mary in the "Coedpoeth As It Was". It would be great if I could confirm this as I would then have a picture of my great, great grandparents. I'm off to Flintshire Record Office today in the hope of trying to find any info which can confirm this. The other children borne by Enock and his first wife Elizabeth were Jane b.20/8/1854 (married Joseph Jones then Isaac Jones) , John b.1862, James b.1864 (was an Iron Worker at Bersham Iron Foundry. He was blind, and lived by Rollers Arms, Southsea. Thomas C b.1866 and Mary Elizabeth b.20/4/1869 married William Williams (my great grandparents). All the children were born in the Adwy, Bersham.

Sharon,
I am looking for my Evans family from Wrexham area and have been researching the family mentioned above to see if they are my family. I am looking for Thomas Evans and his son Edward Evans, my gt grandfather who was born about 1855/60 and died in Bootle Liverpool 1915.
Regards Barbara

Hi Barbara My Enoch Den (Evans) first wife was Elizabeth Davies, she died 1873. Enoch's second wife was Mary Dodd. Enoch and his first wife Elizabeth had the following children: Jane b.1854 possibly married Joseph Jones then his brother Isaac Jones Elizabeth b.1856 - d.1859 (buried with mum Elizabeth at Adwy cemetery) Thomas O b.1859 - d.1863 (buried with mum Elizabeth at Adwy cemetery) John b1862 (no further info) James b1865 possibly married Sarah Roberts then Janet Williams Thomas Owen b. 1867 married Sarah Ellen Jones (both buried at Coedpoeth Cemetery) Mary Elizabeth b.1869 - d.1944 (Coedpoeth Cemetery with husband William Williams) David b.1871 - d.1872 (buried with mum Elizabeth at Adwy cemetery)
The above Thomas' are the only one's I have come across upto now. I don't know if any of the info is irrelevant, but please let me know and I will see what else I can find x

Hi Sharon,
I don't have a lot to go on so I am unsure if this is at all my family. Will just keep digging in case.
Looked for Enoch in records with son Thomas, last night. Found 3x Thomas's baptised Eribistock where Thomas and Elizabeth Bury were married. 6.12.1811 19.01.184 1x Clocoeng 12.12.1813. There were about 10 baptisms in total that I could find between 1815 - 1824 in Wrexham. 1x Thomas Evans born 1820 buried 1864 Minera.
Will keep looking.
Have a good evening.
Barbara
