Hi Linda
I do not know anything about Llidiart fanny cottage but have a photo of my late parents with a Mr & Mrs Jones (may be related) taken about 1937 at what looks like Llidiart Sais Farm. Is this still around and does anyone know anything about it which may help me? The Mr & Mrs Jones in the photo are older than my parents aged possibly about 50 and therefore born circa 1887. Coincidentally I also have a Selina Edwards in my tree born Gwersyllt around 1876.

Hi Pierce
Thanks for the additional info. I have not had the chance to visit since I last posted and will try later this year. My family were all Jones's and lived in various addresses in the local area up untill the 1950's. They were John James Jones and Susannah just in case you came across them- long shot I know. Actually a very distant relative who I met just the once died at the end of July still in the area. He was Glyn Eyton Jones.

Hi Eluned & Sharon
I thought the players were older as well and WW1 may help explain that although not necessarily making it taken then as obviously so many young men lost their lives and I dare say a few teams looked older! I have rescanned the photo which was not great to start with and tried the 'sharpening' tools and looked at the original under a good light with a magnifying glass to no avail. I have presumed a family interest as it came with some other older photos when my Mum died but it is my father's side who were from the area and I know they all played football and later my Dad was Secretary of Ruthin FC for many years. The man on the right has a passing resemblance to my Taid but it is only a guess as I do not have many other photos to compare. He was born in 1879 and overweight with a similar hairstyle but it is a guess. If it is I would reckon the early 1920s.

Hi Sharon
I am not very good at dating old pics but would have thought it a touch earlier looking at collars. I would welcome any input.
Thanks

Seeing all the other photos reminded me of this one. I am reasonably confident that there is at least one family memer in the picture but which one and does anyone know anything about the rest and when it was taken? Peter Attachments:

Hi Elenud
That would be the one. I will have to get along to Ruthin archives to see if any family are mentioned in the minute book or if there is a photo.
Thanks

According to a family note my father was baptised in 1914 in the Primitive Methodist church, Moss. I would be interested if this is the same one and approximately where it was (assuming it is now demolished) Does anyone have any idea where the church records might now be?

Thanks for looking. That dog of yours gets a lot of exercise! I will go that way on my next visit to the area just in case. I might knock on a few doors. I had thought about contacting Hel Achau and will probably give them a ring to see if the author can be contacted. A Summerhill tunnel and swimming pool - I had no idea.
Thanks again

Thanks for that. I have looked previously in the area - Top Road- in particular and know roughly where it is. If you have a chance on one of your walks do you mind looking if you can see it. Presumably all trace of the mine has now gone.

I see from the latest Hel Achau (bottom of page 54) that Machine House , Pendwll Road, Moss is still standing. My great grandfather Thomas Jones was living there in 1901 and the family is still there in 1904 when my grandfather John James Jones married. The address given on Thomas Jones death certificate in 1905 was Pendwllyn Farm,Moss. Does anyone know anything about the property and its unusual name and if the second address is the same place. Thomas Jones and family are on the page just above Samuel Williams who is mentioned in the article in the 1901 and I guess more than one family was in the property. The family address in 1911 is 18 Brynmally Lane and again is this the same? If anyone can pinpoint the property I will make a visit to look sometime. Thanks for any help

Hi Tom
I have Arabela Benjamin in my tree and would be happy to let you have details of her ancestors if it is of interest . I have no info on the Bryan family. Please let me know if you would like this.
