Hi Folks, just stumbled across your web site and forum. Wondered if anyone out there is researching the family of Frank Norgrove born 1886 @ Erbistock, he was a Farrier with the Royal Army Service Corp. and is on the roll of honour at Erbistock church. I believe he married in 1906 to Margaret Ann Roberts born 1887 Coed Poeth. they had possible 7 children. Fingers crossed, Barbara

Looks like the marriage was a civil one so you will need to consider buying the certificate

Some bits and bobs from the papers Oh Dear. ;D The Wrexham Advertiser Saturday, January 08, 1887 Ruabon Petty Sessions. Thomas Norgrove a labourer at the Green Pit was summoned by John Roberts his brother in law for having assaulted him on December 4th. Complainant said on the afternoon of the day in question the defendant accused him of having reported him to Mr Leighton for poaching and seizing him by the throat bit him violently on the nose. He had to call for assistance, John Dodd said he heard him call and when he came to him he found the defendant with his teeth in his nose and bleeding profusely. The defendant said he had to use his teeth as the complainant was throttling him. Magistrates considered the case a very brutal one and fined him £2 and costs or one month in default. Chairman said if he had not been a married man he would have been committed to prison without the option of a fine, Mr John Lewis to defendant, ` You have very likely disfigured the man for life” Green Pit was later known as Wynnstay collieryThe Wrexham Advertiser, Saturday, February 11, 1888 Petty sessions Overton Thomas Norgove a labourer living at Overton was summoned by a gamekeeper named Burdett with setting snares to kill game on land belonging to Mr Peel. The defendants wife appeared and said her husband who admitted the offence had gone away to work. Mr Peel wished the magistrates to deal leniently with the case and he was fined 5s. The Wrexham Advertiser, Saturday, August 12, 1893 Overton Flower Show. Caroline Norgrove of the Nant won 2nd prize for a collection of wild fruit, ( by cottagers children) Mrs Norgrove won the 1st prize for a 2lb loaf. The Wrexham Advertiser Saturday, October 20, 1894 OVERTON Two boys , the sone of Mr Fowles, Old Hall and Thomas Norgove The Nant were engaged in cutting turnips with a cutter . A few days ago young Norgrove got his hand entangled with the cogs and two of his fingers were cut off. fortunately the handle was not attached to the wheel or the consequences would have been more serious. The Wrexham Advertiser, Saturday, March 23, 1895 Ruth and Carrie Norgrove took part in a concert at Erbistock in aid of the new school building fund. The Wrexham Advertiser, Saturday, September 07, 1895 Overton flower show Carrie Norgrove won 4th prize for a basket of wild flowers ( Cottagers) The Wrexham Advertiser, Saturday, August 08, 1896 Overton Flower show.
