Grandfather William T Kelly died 1931, Bersham colliery mgr, wife Sarah A Kelly nees Williams. Her first husband Harold Gidley drowned, leaving Harold Jnr and Alma. Sarah married William Kelly 1917, 2nd daughter Henrietta Frances is my mother, her siblings Margaret Ann, Katherine Louise. Hetty married Dennis Frank Morgan and lived in Essex where I and my brother David were born. I live in Australia - David and his familyt took my mother with them when moved to Isle of Skye 13 years ago. The Kelly family lived at 1 Tudor Street, Coedpoeth (I believe it was formerly a pub before becoming residential) where Sarah (Sally) at one time used the front room as a little shop selling sweets until a larger shop opened across the road. My mother went to Pennygelli school at age 4. After war service Margaret and husband John Grimwood returned to Tudor Street where they lived with Sarah until their deaths in the 1990s. I made a fleeting visit to Coedpoeth earlier this year but the officer in charge of the cemetery was away on holidays so no-one could help me locate the grave where family members are buried. My mother is dying, and we would like to include a photo of the family grave in material provided to family members who cannot attend Isle of Skye funeral. It is our intentiuon to lay some of her ashes at that same plot as her Welsh background was all important to her and her personality. Can anyone help me in the immediate future with a photo of the grave/s? Jennifer Myfanwy Thompson myf2.thompson@bigpond.com

I`ve spoken to the cemetery superintendent and he has put me in touch with a lady who has the burial records. She can help but is away from work for a week. It will be at least two weeks before she can get me the information. Also the location of the graves. I know from this site that there are headstones . www.tom-mercer-mi-indexes.org.uk/Cemetery_Coedpoeth_D.htm All these names are on one. Sarah KELLY D11 William KELLY D11 Harold D11 Alma D11 Margaret D11 Hetty D11 Kitty D11 This is another Harold GIDLEY D135 Angela D135 Michael D135 There is also this website. You may find photos on here, but they are sometimes not very good. www.clwyd-mi.co.uk/html/coedpoeth.htmlWhen you click Download Zip File , you will find a notice that you need a password. You will have to email Lee Wetton for one. Hope this helps

Many thanks, and how very kind of you to go to this trouble. I've never understood the Tom Mercer headstones index as they seem to indicate family members with informally abbreviated names, rather than actual burials. eg Kitty (Katherine), is buried in Wiltshire,my mother Hetty and my cousins Angela and Michael Gidley, are actually alive. Would this indicate there are family plots with space allocated? Who would have compiled these lists without reference to partners who were buried with them? Your help really appreciated, Anne. The names from Tom Mercers are all that are on the headstone, it doesn`t give the full inscription and it doesn`t mean they are buried there. For instance I have a family grave there that has a son`s name on it , but he was lost in WW1 .
It probably has "mother of Kitty " etc
The same for Angela and Michael. Someone paid and gave instructions for the headstones. Also headstones could have been put on the graves any time after the burial. Could it be Harold Gidley jnr ?
I have seen new looking ones with dates from a long time ago.
I can`t comment on the actual plots. The Cemetery would know about that.

Hi, Another Minera member has found some details, there are more than one graves which seem to be your family. L/W means the Lee Wetton site. I`ll try to post the images .
There are no Gidleys in the burial register, they are named on the Richards grave which is why they appear in Tom Mercers Index.

Excellent, many thanks for your trouble. Harold and Alma Gidley were born to Sarah from her first marriage; Sarah (Sally) had worked for merchants in Liverpool for many years like many Welsh girls, and that is where she met Gidley. When Captain Gidley was lost at sea she later married William Kelly. Interestingly, baby Louise Kelly says 3 weeks. My mother recalls her clearly as a toddler ... at 93 she may be confused but Louise's death accounts for the 'gap' of roughly 2 years between children from Margaret, Henrietta, (gap Louise) and Katherine.
