Hello again all. With my mum I'm visiting the Wrexham area in a couple of weeks to see the places where our ancestry lies, and I wonder if anyone can help regarding addresses and locations?
At present I have 4 addresses - the last known full address in Rhosymedre where my grandfather lived before a move to Derbyshire (Brooke Street), the address listed on his birth certificate (Cefn), and the 1901 and 1911 census addresses of my great grandfather.
With regard to the Cefn address, I can't find a place just called Cefn, but I wonder if it may be Cefn-Mawr? The address is 7 Bryngolau (Spel?), and the certificate states the district as Ruabon and Wrexham. It was 1915 and it's likely the houses won't be there (likely miners cottages), but I would like to find the street if still in existence. I wonder if anyone can shed any light from their knowledge, or where I might find old street maps of the area?
The address from 1911 is 14 Lower Road, Nant, Coedpoeth. I've found a Lower Road in Coedpoeth, but I'm thrown by the 'Nant' and want to ensure I'm visiting the right location.
Finally, in 1901 my great grandfather was living at 20 Twenty Houses in Minera, which I've discovered was attached to the Five Crosses Inn. I can see this pub is still in existence, and from Bing maps can see a row of houses close by, but I doubt they are the 20 Houses. I'd appreciate any information anyone has about these.
Thank you very much for any help offered. Debs

If anyone able to help, I'm also looking to find the general area of Gibsons Row in Talwrn village, classed on the 1871 census as In Bersham and Minera. It doesn't look as though Talwrn as a village in its own right exists now, but it would be useful to know where this area might be now. Thanks in advance. Debs

Think I'm right with this, I'm not a local so others may be able to help you further. See Wikipedia - Coedpoeth - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coedpoethand Easy Coedpoeth Walks www.mudandroutes.com/easy-coedpoeth-walks-nant-mill-to-bronwylfa/Nant was/is a district of Coedpoeth Lower Road appears to be located in "The Nant"

Frankm, thank you so very much. The links have provided lots of valuable information and my dot-joining has leapt forward. We now have some really valid locations to visit that I feel pretty clear about. Very much appreciated. Debs

Great photo Tom. I found it quite confusing looking for the Five Crosses as there are two in Ruthin Road. One is set back from the road while the other (your photo) which I think is the one Debs is looking for is opposite Minera Hall Road.

Thank you both, Tom and Frankm. The photo is particularly fantastic! I'm currently cramming with all the info I have to find as many correct address as I can before we go Friday. The most important one I'm struggling with however is my granddad's birth address, which is 7 Bryngoleu (spel?) Cefn. I've been googling and seen that Cefn is now a community of smaller hamlets that have melded over the years, but had hoped to find some idea about the location of the address on his birth certificate. Really hoping for tips for this one. Thanks so much to those who have helped so far!

Talwrn is indeed a part of the village of Coedpoeth and is situated on the road from Southsea to Minera road. It was the site of a colliery he headgear of which was visible from the Wrexham to Ruthin Road just before reaching the Five Crosses Public house, when I was attending school in Wrexham. The road is the B5430 and is known as Talwrn Road .
