I've just found this link via a google search, Iago Hughes was a relation to me, my Great-Grandmother was Gwladys Hughes, Iago's daughter. I've also got a record of a 'stepdaughter' called Gwyneth in my family notebook left by my Grandmother. I've got Iago's Bible in my hand right now and there are 2 addresses inside, 5 Park Rd, Tan y Bron, Southsea & Sion Cottage, Southsea. His funeral notice is inside the Bible and says Er Serchus Goffadwriaeth Am Iago, Anwyl briod Fanny Hughes (Bessie she was known as), 3, Zion Cottages, Southsea. Yr hwn a fu farw byoref 14eg, 1915 yn 50 mlwydd oed. Ac a gladdwydd ym Mynwent Newydd Coedpoeth, Hydref 18fed. My Great-Grandmother married of course my Great Grandfather Jabez Davies of Llay, his father was John Davies the head collier in Llay around 1885. Gwladys & Jabez married in the early 1920 I think. Jabez Davies was one of 15 and one of his Brothers was the Captain of the No2 mine rescue team called to Gresford on that fateful day in 1934. Jabez's Brothers & Sisters were Ulam, Parry, Lemuel, Cynddylan, Harry, Beth, Wynn, Cissie, Carrye, Blodwen, Adeline, Eryll, Marbaret, Gertrude. Parry has a surviving daughter called Muriel living in a care home in Gresford, she's about 97 at this time.
