I believe my great great grandfather, William WYNNE (sometimes WYNN) was christened in Minera on 18 Mar 1792. He was born in Brymbo on 3 Mar 1792 to Samuel and Mary (DAVIES) WYNNE. His brother, Charles was also born in Brymbo (30 Nov 1794) and christened in Minera (7 Dec 1794).
I got these records from the Minera Chapel Registers Baptisms 1786-1820, pages 8 & 10, but have been unable to find any more about his brother and his parents.
I am curious as to why they were christened in Minera if they were born in Brymbo. Can anyone shed any light on this, please?
Thanks,
John

Hi John, Where your ancestor's born in Brymbo itself, or the parish of Brymbo? The parish of Brymbo adjoins the parish of Minera, for instance the village of Bwlchgwyn is in the parish of Brymbo, and on the old census records is described as Brymbo which can be pretty confusing! Your ancestors could quite easily have been born near to Minera around the area of Gwern-y-gaseg or maybe Bwlchgwyn, but were noted as being born in Brymbo as it was within the said parish. Being christened in Minera may have possibly been as it was the family church / nearest church to the family home? Well that would be my guess anyway. Jas.

Hello Angela My ggg grandfather was William WYNNE (c1793-1839). He married Mary Parry in 1816. He was an engineer, who lived and died in Aberderfyn. I don't know where he was born (possibly Minera or Brymbo), or where he's buried. As far as I can tell, his children included Mary (b1816), my gg grandfather Charles (c1818-1897), Louisa (1821-1857), Anne(1823), George (1832) and Sarah (b1835). Sarah was born in Aberderfyn, Ruabon (where William lived and died). She was baptised on 5th July 1835 (Clwyd FHS Ruabon Parish Transcripts, Chapter 11, Baptisms 1828-1853, page 28). Her parents are listed as William WYNN (No "E", but that's quite common. It comes and goes), an engineer, and Mary, living in Aberderfyn. I think it's possible that she was living in Adwyr Clawdd in 1851 (aged 16), as a servant in the house of Samuel and Ann Lloyd, whose daughter Emma I believe married Sarah's brother George. [1851 census HO107, 2503, 656, 5] It looks like we might have the same individual. I don't know anything else about her specifically, but have quite a bit on her relatives. I would be fascinated to learn more about what you have on Sarah and her family. Best wishes, John Wynne

No connection that I know of. My great grandfather was plain old "Robert", and was born in 1853 and died in 1935. He ran the winding engine at Plas Power pit, where he worked for 50 years. Who were your Robert Owen Wynne,s parents? Best wishes, John

It could be the family living on Blast Row, Brymbo in 1881. If so his parents were John b. 1837 Brymbo and Sarah b.1842 Llanarmon. Lynn

I believe he was the son of John WYNNE (1836 – 1883) and Sarah GRIFFITHS (1843 – ). It looks like John WYNNE was the son of John WYNNE (1805 – 1866) and Ann JONES (1808 – ). John WYNNE (1805 – 1866) was the son of John WYNNE and Margaret (possibly HARRY). Robert Owen WYNNE died on 5 March 1948, aged 77, at 19 Upper Wortley Road, Rotherham, Yorkshire Best wishes, John

Hi Im not sure if this will help but my father Douglas Neville Wynne and his father Owen Owen Wynne were born in Coedpoeth. My grand father was one of fourteen and was a painter and decorator and painted houses around Bersham. He met his wife in the war and her name was Mable Head. Wynne was a big family then but when the parents passed away the family divided over money and my grand father walked away as he didnt want the money as it had created so much trouble. I hope this is helpful Tony Wynne.
