I have John and Margaret living on this farm in 1851 Census, 1861 Census, then son James and his wife 1871 - then nothing ??? One of there sons Edward came to Australia and I am trying to find out what happened to farm ??? does it still exist and what happened to the rest of the family. Would also love a map. The family were born in Wrexham. Can anyone out there help?

Can you give more detail from the census records so we can find them and take a peep, knowing when and where they were born and names of others will give us something to start on. If they were Bartholemew and Cecilia Lavinia Arbuthnot it would be sooooo much easier , but John and Maragret Griffiths is very common. ;D ;D ;D

Yes I agree!!! A bit like Smith in Australia where I am from. On the 1851 Census they are living at Esclusham Above No. 47 it is John Griffiths 63 Head farmer of 100 acres Margaret Wife 53 Edward son 32 (he came to Australia) Charlotte daughter 17 Elizabeth daughter 9 Charles visitor 27 joiner (who I believe is also a son) John visitor 3 son born Lancashire Liverpool All the other are born Wrexham, Denbighshire.
They are at the same farm on the 1861 Census JOhn, Margaret and son James but there is also servants, Ellis Jones - carter, Mary Evans (Margaret's maiden name was Evans so could be a rellie) and Elizabeth Richardons. However now he is only a farmer on 90 acres.
1871 We find living at Tydden Deddwyd James Griffiths 33 head (who I am presuming has inherited the farm) his wife Mary 23 and they happen to have a daughter Mary who is 13? Maybe she was adopted?? Mary Williams, Henry Walker and Edward Bitell? are servants.
After this they seem to have moved?? I did find a James and Mary in the coal mines but there are a couple. I was just hoping someone else had them on their trees. Thanks for your time,

Just found your Tyddyn dedwydd enquiries and wondered whether in your search you have found your James Griffiths in the 1891 census, RG12 4617 folio 86 page 2, aged 54, born 1837 at Lower Wilford hafod, Cadwgan road, Esclusham Above. with Mary nee Roberts, his second wife, aged 39, born 1852. And again in the 1901 census, RG13 5221 Folio 100 page 10 at the same address, aged 64, born 1837, with Mary, now aged 50! born 1851, born in Llamgollen though marriage certificate indicates Vroncysyllte which is near by. They married in Ruabon. She had a daughter Mary. and, I believe it to be him, in the 1911 census RG14PN34006 RG621 SD2 Ed3 SN91, aged 75, born 1836 widower, Farmer, father in law, living with his 'daughter' Mary at The Crossings, Plasbennion, Ruabon. My interest? He & his first wife Sarah Edwards who died 27 Dec. 1866 aged 28, were the parents of my Grandmother, Margaret Jane Griffiths, born 12 March 1865, baptised 07 May 1865 in Wern Chapel, (see records) died 12 June 1931 aged 66. ( Just after my birth!) Hope that this has been helpful.

Hi Brains71!
I realise this is so many years after you asked for information but I have only just come across this site!
I know nothing of the Griffiths family but I know something of the farm during the 1960s.... I lived next door!
Please let me know of you are still interested in information, I have a few photographs.
