Hi. Not much help but there are 4 Mgt Hughes buried in Southsea Church--sadly none are anything like the one you are seeking but this should help to shorten the list of places to look. Regards Tom

St Johns Brymbo Margaret HUGHES B24 15 Thomas Henry HUGHES B24 15 These seem to in the same grave. ===================== And all these in another. Margaret HUGHES B67 22 Mary Elizabeth HUGHES B67 22 Peter Jones HUGHES B67 22 William HUGHES B67 22
Might narrow it down a bit. The second number 15/22 is the page in the MI book so there will be an inscription.

Two churches I`ve just been on the phone to Wrexham museum, and yes there are/were two, but one fell down and was replaced, and later another was built. The same registers were used for all of them , and just a note at the side of the entry will say which church it was. Confused so am I. I`m going there tomorrow so will have a look at the burials if I have time.. Broughton is also a possibility for Margaret, opened 1888. Brake chapel registers are also there. Is Margaret the wife of Thomas that was killed in the colliery, we couldn`t find him either could we.

Yes Annedw. The same Margaret the wife of Thomas killed at Gatwen colliery in 1887, they also had two sons that died early .....one was Hugh Hughes born 1878 and died March 1891 aged 12 and his brother Robert Hughes born1876 died 1884 aged 8 years all these people are possibly in the same grave but where? John.

www.flashearth.com/?lat=53.074864&lon=-3.046152&z=16&r=3&src=mslStation Road Southsea didn`t ring any bells, so I checked and it`s actually at the top end of Pentre Broughton, so it could be Brymbo or Broughton if she was buried in a Churchyard. The large waste land to the left is what remained of Brymbo steelworks before they built houses on it.

Brymbo St Johns is the one with the war memorial and the gravestones are now around the perimiter of the grounds. St Marys graveyard contains alot of stones but the verger is willing to do a search for a small donation. www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/DEN/Brymbo/index.html#ChurchHistoryGenuki's explanation on Brymbo's church history.

None of them at all are buried in Brymbo, Brake Chapel and Margaret is not in Broughton. There are no other non com burial registers in Wrexham. I`m don`t know for sure how many other non com graveyards there may be in Brymbo or Broughton. Found a reference to this one. Caer Salem Chapel (Pentre Broughton): monumental inscriptions

I`ll have a look at Caersalem MI`s , just in case. Last chance might be an obit for Margaret. I`ll look when I have time. I wonder why she didn`t marry again, she would have only been about 38 when Thomas died.

I think that Thomas must have been non conformist, I know that Thomas and Margaret never married............... Margaret's surname was also Hughes so I presume they just lived together as a name change for Margaret was not required. Just been looking at another of your threads, a little pre my time on the site and noticed that you thought they never married and that Margaret was always a Hughes. Did you ever find a marriage? Did you find Thomas' burial? Is it possible she remarried or was buried under another surname?

Elunid No I never found a marriage either in Wrexham or Llangadfan Montgomeryshire where they originated from. or have I ever traced Thomas's burial place after his death at Gatewen. I think that she never remarried as she died still a Hughes in 1915................ unless she married another HUGHES!!!!!!!!! as annedw pointed out she was only 38 when thomas died so I supose it is a possibility.
More background in 1901 census at 2 Richmond terrace Broughton Margaret Hughes/head/widow/53/Pont Robert Meifod Montgomeryshire David Hughes /son/21/coal miner/Broughton Joseph Hughes/son/17/coal miner / Broughton
[son David was a witness to the death of Margaret in 1915 ]

There`s no mention of Margarets death in Sept/ Oct 1915 papers. I can only guess that they must be in a chapel graveyard with no headstones, but which one

Hi John
Have you considered the remote possibility that they might all be buried at Llandagfan with family there?
Do you have the death/burial place of their son David?
