This is a translation of part of the report in Y Cylchgrawn-- It is with grief we note the death of one of the dear sons of our church --The young man Thomas Evans, son of Daniel & Sarah Ann Evans, The Mill, Minera. He met with a fatal accident in Plas Power on Thursday Oct 28th 1915. He was 18 yrs old. Tommy was a genial friendly lad, admired by all who knew him, he took great interest in "The Cause" at "Penybryn" and was always eager to help in any way he could. As a church we feel great loss after such an obedient and striving person. A large crowd came together to pay their respects on Monday afternoon 1st Nov. and it was easy to see that he was held in high esteem by his fellow workers and neighbours. This was one of the largest funerals seen in Minera, the service in the house was officiated by Rev Phillip Price. A procession walked to Rehoboth Chapel, Coedpoeth where The Rev J.R. Roberts, Bwlchgwyn held the service.----Before the procession restarted from the chapel to Coedpoeth Cemetery, the "Dead March" was played by Mr Tom Carrington, the chapel organist, with all the congregation standing. Then all went orderly to the grave where Rev JR Roberts & Rev J Meirion Jones officiated. Three beautiful wreaths were placed on his grave--two from his fellow workers at Plas Power and one from Penybryn Chapel--May God console the family, friends and sorrowful chapel members.

I was assured the pic of the grave in the foreground is poor Thomas's and my mother(Tom's sister Blodwen) told me many times the procession stretched all the way from by Minera Post Office to Rehoboth and the management of Plas Power had given permission for everyone at the pit to have the day off. What a lovely card. Makes me all teary just thinking about such a special young man being taken before his adulthood really began. Thank you Tom, for posting all the cards. They are a really special addition to the site. H
