I wondered if it is possible to look for Meredith Jones in the 1841 census. In the 1851 census he is living in Charles St. Wrexham Regis. His wife was called Elizabeth and I believe by the 1841 census he would have had 7 children:- Wlliam, Edward,Richard,Elizabeth, John, Alfred and James. I hope you can help as then the census for this part of the family would be complete.
Meredith Jones' son John married Grace Darlington the daughter of John Darlington a Mine Engineer who worked for the Minera Mining Company
Thank you

Hi Bee, I can't find any of the family in 1841 and note that part of Wrexham 1841 census is missing. One can assume that they were included in the missing section - Unless the transcription is very wrong! nellie

Hi The 1841 census for the Wrexham area is missing. There is some good news however, some years ago a small amount of the lost records which relate only to Wrexham town centre were located, I think in a skip The Clwyd FHS have transcribed this and it is available to purchase from them. If you are lucky there may be someone on here that has a copy or access to one and can kindly do a lookup

My husbands grandfather was Donald seymour Jones and before the First World War worked at the leather works with his father , after the war he married and went to Kenya where he started a coffee plantation in the White Highlands . he lived ther until the 1950's and then returned home with hies wife first to Criccieth and then later to Prees to near one of his daughters. Thanks again for all the help. Bee

As yet we have not made a family connection to James Darlington. I hvae been trying to find if he was possibly a child of either John Darlington junior , who so far we have traced to London (with and without his brother George ) or George Darlington. We know that George was manager of both Minera Metallurgical Company and Minera Mining Company (lead) in the Wrexham Directory of 1859. We cannot find him in any of the census around that period. He is not on the family gravestone at Minera Church with his father John ,mother Mary, brother Johnathon and sister Mary Allen. So far he has seemed to have vanished ,by 1876 there is no sign of George even in Casey's Wrexham Directory.
