Given the lack of Mathias Davies`s in the census ( as far as I can see ) this might be interesting, she mentiones her grandsons Mathias Davies and William Parry, and leaves property in Pentrefelin Davies, Sydney, Pentrefelyn, Wrexham, Denbigh, Widow Sydney Davies : will, 1840. hdl.handle.net/10107/894257The will seems to have been proved in October 1840, and is dated 22 May 1840. This looks like her. Deaths Jun 1840 DAVIES Sidney Wrexham 27 224 She is a widow but mentions her brother Joseph Roberts of Bala. She leaves property " all my seven other houses. number 15,16,17,18,19,20,21, now in the respective occupations of Elizabeth Young, my grandson Mathias Davies, Elizabeth Davies, Richard Davies,Hugh Davies, Robert Pigot and William Williams. It might be worth Llosgi checking to see if these are all in 1841.

In 1851 Jane is a widow , her youngest child born c 1847 Pentrefelin Jane Davies 35 head seamstress b London. John Davies son 15 William Davies dau 11 Edwin Davies son 8 Mary Jane Davies dau 4 LodgersThomas Stokes 25 Elizabeth Stokes 25 Emily Stokes 1 Richard Mowbre 25 1861 21 Pentrefelin, she is still a widow but has another son George born c 1855 Jane Davies 46 b London William Davies 21 Edwin Davies 17 Mary J Davies 14 George Davies 6 LodgersRichard Felton 36 Martin Evans 31 What happened to Mathias, there`s no death showing for him in the Wrexham area, BUT. North Wales Chronicle (Bangor, Wales), Tuesday, April 10, 1849; William Edge 28 and Mathias Davies 38 were indicted with breaking into a house and stealing silver. Three silver spoons were found in the house of Mathias Davies who `keeps a beer shop in Wrexham` they were also charged with another burglary , verdicy GUILTY , sentence TRANSPORTATION for 10 years. 1841 gives Mathias as aged 26 so born 1815, 1849 report has him aged 38 , so born c 1821. 1841 census - the age should have been rounded down to the nearest five years for those aged 15 or over. SO, what do you think, is it the same guy. maybe he`s not linked at all but I`ve enjoyed spending a couple of hours having `dig` ;D

This was posted 31-08-2006 11:32 AM by Daryn Davies. There are no replies. www.british-genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php?16348-Matthias-Davies-Of-Pentrefelin-wrexhamMatthias Davies Of Pentrefelin, wrexham I Have Reached An Impass In Relation To Tracing My Famil Tree. For I Have Discovered That My Greatx3 Grandparents Were Matthias Davies Born C1815 And Jane Brown Born C1815, However, I Am Unable To Trace When And Where He Died. As Far As I Am Aware He Died Prior To The 1851 Wales Census(at The Time He And His Family Where Living At Pentrefelin In The Wrexham Abbot Area), Between 1845 And 1851. I Assume He Died In The Wrexham Area, But Where Was He Buried?. I Am Also Looking At When The Both Got Married. I Assume It Would Be Between 1832 And 1836. If Anyone Has Any Possible Relevant Records, I Would Be Grateful If You Could Search Through Them For Me.And if you look at Daryn`s other posts they show that what I though about Mathias seems to be right, he was transported to Tasmania, ;D ;D ;D I`ve enjoyed this one.
