Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have in my possession two solid silver chains owned by my great grandfather Robert Smallwood. One of which is enscribed Wrexham School Football League (B.C.S) 1909 and the other enscribed Rhosmedre Cup 1914. I also have a photograph of Brynteg Church F.C showing the team were winners for the years 1919 - 1920 of the Church League and Cup. Would anyone happen to know where I can obtain information relating to the football teams of that era?

Hi Sharon , You could try searching under subjects or places on the Denbighshire Record Office site. They have a good index online at Denbighshire .gov.uk
They may come under schools, sport, church records... It may be trial and error. Good luck!

Hi Sharon, if you are close enough to Wrexham, go to the Palmer centre in the Museum. They have microfilms of old newspapers that cover that time. Also there are files/folders of all sorts of records, that might have something. It would be best to book a reader for the newspapers.

Hi Sharon, My grandfather (Iorwerth Wynn/Wynne) had some football medals on a silver chain. He was born in 1896, and was supposed to have played for his Wrexham school (Grove park) and also as a schoolboy international, though I haven't found any corroboration yet. He lived in Brymbo and Moss. There's a picture of his medals on the BBC web site. www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northeast/sites/wrexham/pages/medals.shtmlApparently, you can upload photos with your messages, but I don't have them on this computer. I would be interested to know more about the Wrexham School League, and the Brynteg Church F.C. and the Church League and Cup. Best wishes, John Wynne

Many thanks to everyone for your help regarding the football teams. I shall visit the Wrexham museum over the next few weeks, luckily I don't live too far away. As for John Wynne, I have sent you a personal message Sharon
