Unfortunately the name I am looking for seems offend the forum software so please read the name without the -- , thanks I am hoping someone may have information about Thomas WILLCO--CK Born 1804 Marchweil Died 1856 Wrexham In early records the surname was spelt with one L - WILCO--CK but the later records all show two L's. Married 09 Jul 1826 St John the Baptist Chester Wife Ann Hughes Born Abt 1802 Wrexham Died Place 1865 Wrexham I was surprised that they appear to have been married in Chester or was this where some Wrexham weddings were recorded? There is a useful database at Liverpool University for some Chester parish records if anyone has not found it. www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/Live/v3.6/database.htmlThe couple had the following children Thomas Willco--ck Born 1827 Wrexham Richard Willco--ck Born Abt 1831 Wrexham John Willco--ck Born 1830 Wrexham Elizabeth Willco--ck Born 1834 Wrexham Mary Willco--ck Born 1837 Wrexham William Willco--ck Born 1840 Wrexham Elenor Willco--ck Born 1843 Wrexham Phillip Willco--ck Born Abt 1849 Wrexham I have found a William Willco--ck born Abt. 1814 who was an inn keeper then had a farm at Plas Noble which I believe is Sontley. Does anyone know if or more likely how they were related? Thanks

Thanks very much eluned. Some of the information I had but there is quite a lot I didn't. It will take time to align it to what I have. Does the Three Tuns still exist?

Hi I notice there are some online trees on ancestry for this family, perhaps one is yours or if not you may like to take a look. I don't want to do look ups for anything you may already have so could you possibly confirm what information you still require please?

www.wrexham.gov.uk/english/heritage/brewery_tour/island_green.htmThe Mitre Brewery was brewing between 1868 - 1916. The brewhouse and its chimney have survived. On your left is the former Old Three Tuns public house. The pub moved here in 1896 after the original Old Three Tuns was knocked down to make way for the Ellesmere - Wrexham Railway. Looking at the map that Eluned posted, it seems that the `old` Three Tuns was where the Commercial and Cambrian are now. That would go with the explanation about the railway , as the old bridge over Town Hill was by there. The `new` Three Tuns` is on Brook Street, now a Railway Club.

The will of John above states: "my brother Thomas" and mentions this Thomas' eldest son as being a John. Our Thomas, 1804-1856, eldest son isn't John. It also says "my nephew Thomas, joiner"! Our Thomas is a joiner So Thomas 1804-1856 is therefore most probably a nephew. Is he John's brother Thomas' son? There is always so much waffle in wills and they do take some studying so I maybe wrong

Thank you very much for all the information. I am in Australia so its great to have all the new info when I logon in the morning. As of yesterday I had four A4 sheets printed of information from this site. I have been through that which I can match with what I had but there are now a lot of new leads. Some of what I see here this morning concerning John and 'my nephew Thomas' may well help me to get back further. I have a lot of the information concerning Richard as this is the line I am connected to. Is it possible to send someone a ged file by the message service? Thanks

Hi Frankm Glad that you are finding the information of interest. No I wouldn't have thought it possible to send a gedcom file via a PM, sorry. Let us know if you want us to find something specific and in the mean time hopefully someone may be able to assist with some look ups in the PRs. eluned

I had half an hour to spare, just enough to find these, I only managed to look at Marchwiel , but the family may have used St Giles, Wrexham as well.
Marchwiel MIs. St Marcella`s. These may not be quite accurate , they are transcriptions from the gravestones . (177) John Willco-ck Plas Noble died February 14 1875 aged 80.
(178) Elizabeth Willco-ck Plas Noble died April 14 1814 aged 43 Also Thomas Willco-ck Plas Noble died May 22 1850 aged 86 also Mary eldest daughter of the above died Dec 17 1864 aged 75
So Thomas was born c 1764, Elizabeth c 1771 , Mary c 1789.
There are very few entries in St Marcella`s registers Before these there are no Willco-cks in Marchwiel Prs as far back as 1652.
1751 – 1812 Bapt and burials. Bapt. 1802 Jan 10 Thomas Willco-ck s/o Thomas and Elizabeth. 1804 June 10 Frances " d/o Thomas and Elizabeth. 1807 Mar 29 Elizabeth " d/o Thomas and Elizabeth. 1810 Aug 29 Edward s/o " Thomas and Mary.
1813 -1837 B M D. Bapt 1813 Apr 8 John Willco-ck s/o Thomas farmer and Elizabeth. Sontley.
Marriages. 1832 Jan 7 Elizabeth Willco-ck to Samuel Stocker. 1832 Apr 17 Edward Willco-ck to Margaret Rogers.
Burials. 1814 Apr 11 Elizabeth Willco-ck 43 Plas Noble.
