Ago. Reference Sjt L.S. Bull Machine Gun Corps if I have read the London Gazette corrctly he was awarded the M.M. gazetted 11th October 1916. and a Bar to this medal which is the reference you have seen in the London Gazette Tuesday 21st August 1917. The same with 12316 Sjt. J. Smith Shropshire Light Infantry. Again records show that he was awarded the DCM., gazetted 19th November 1917, so the I believe the award gazetted on the 3rd September 1918 in the 3rd Supplement was a bar to his original D.C.M. This being the case both were very brave men. Still trying to find further information on all 3.

Ago, Some information which may prove helpful. Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders or 79th Regiment of Foot. Further information can be obtained from Highlanders Museum, (which houses their Regimental History) web site www.thehighlandersmuseum.com Shropshire Light Infantry, their Regimental History is held in the Shropshire Regimental Museum, Shrewsbury Castle, SY1 2At. I recommend a vist to this museum if you are in Shrewsbury. Situated next to the railway station. Machine Gun Corps. Unfortunately this former corps does not have a Regimental Muyseum or Depot. Formed in October 1915 and disbanded mid 1922. However, there is a web site which can be used for research of the Corps. www.machineguncorps.co.uk

Hi I came across this post while looking into my great uncle James Morris' war record, I suspect he is J E Morris but can find no evidence for middle initial, brother to my Grandma May Morris of Salop Road Overton On Dee.
