Posted by Poly I'm researching my mothers family and have found David Gibbone who was a bailiff in Minera. I can't make out the address where he and his family lived so can anyone help me? It would appear to be 'tho Bwlch' but really can't desipher it! Does anyone know of it or where it is? Thank you.

You're spot on Annette; looking at the snapshot of the census, there is a nearby address of Y Gegin. That area was between the old Wrexham to Ruthin road and the new. In the days of the Drovers there were two addresses in this area known as a Gegin Ddu ( The Black Kitchen ) and Y Gegin Gwyn ( The White Kitchen ) names afforded to the establishments by the drovers who travelled this road. The fact that he was a bailiff would indicate that he was employed by the owner of the farm and that he may have resided elsewhere, as was often the case as recently as the 1970's or that in the event of losing his job he would revert to his home address. Hope this may help. Locsin
