My first post, so apologies if I'm breaking umpteen rules. I have just come back to my family tree research after a break of about 16 years and am still getting over the shock of how much more I've discovered on the internet. I got here via this link: minerahistory.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=print&thread=855I am a descendant of Griffith John Jones/Jane. Their daughter Myfanwy was my Great Great Grandmother. If any kind soul could point me in the right direction for further discussion, I'd be very grateful. I guess it will take me a bit of time to find my way around here. Regards, Steve

Dear Ann,
Thank you so much for this information. My paternal Grandfather's side was always the most mysterious and I only wish my Dad could have been around to see all this. Myfanwy G Jones married a Jonathan Price, my Great Grandfather. We were never sure what happened to this family, and I became active in the research long after my Grandfather had died, but I know that he was raised by an uncle or Grandfather. Stories were that all the children were palmed off to other family members, either because of divorce or death.
Seems like I have a lot of work ahead!
Steve

Well, at the end of Girls Book 1, I think my question is answered.
"In 1899 Myfanwy married Jonathon Price, he was a watchmaker and jeweller and in 1901 they are living in 12 High Street, Coedpoeth with their young son Mwyndeg Prys.Myfanwy died aged only 41 and was buried with her parents in Coedpoeth Cemetery on 6th September 1915"
Thanks again!
Steve

I do hope you read the Boys books as well, Griffiths writes about his own life and family. It is very interesting.
It was a pleasure to read Griffith Jones entries, he wrote so much detail about life in the village as well as the school. It gives a great insight into the social history.
The Joseph Wilcoxon that is mentioned in the books is my Gt Grandfather, and the Wilcoxon girls were my Gt Aunts. So - our ancestors knew each other quite well all that time ago.
Boys book 1. 1871 DECEMBER Gave up the charge of Adwy & Coedpoeth on Wednesday to take the charge of Taliesin Board School 10 weeks after the school year ends, so that there still is 10 weeks grant coming to me next year.
(Richard Morris has now left the school and Griffith Joseph Jones is the master)

Thanks a lot Anne! I have just got to the end of the two Girls books and was able to trace Myfanwy's career up to 1899 when she left the school, I assume to get married. I was amazed to see that they could start training as a teacher "Monitress" when they were only 13. This brought back memories of my own Grandmother telling me how she had dearly wanted to be a teacher (c.1920) but her father made her start work as a telephone operator. I am up to my eyes with work and will probably have to put off the Boys books till next week, though I have skimmed through them very fast. Seeing that this family is just a small part of the family tree, the amount of information now available online means that I'm likely to be kept very busy for years! I have whole boxes of notes, docs and photos waiting to be organised. Best wishes, Steve

Sorry, I just realised that the J is 'Joseph', not John. i.e. Griffith Joseph Jones.
