Newbie member barb posted for help in the new 'shout box' so I have started a new thread so we can all try to help ''William Owen Williams claimed he was 34 on the marriage cert to Maria Ellen Smith on 1 April 1910 however his funeral notice in the wrexham Leader claims he died aged 80 in 1955. This is why I am having so much difficulty with a positive ID. His Father was named as John on the marriage cert. We know he had a brother Hugh from family and from the newspaper report on the death. Maria Ellen took her own life in 1917 by drowning in Brymbo pool. He remarried Sarah Jane Carrington and her son Charlie Carrington lived for many years in Minera his wife's name was Margaret, I now live in Australia any help would be much app. 1911 census living in Llanfair with wife and baby son.

I think I may have pinned him down. William Owen Williams was baptised 2 May 1875 at Gwytherin (which is part of Henllan) the son of John (farmer) and Ellen Williams of Tyddyn Dafydd, Gwytherin Ellen Williams was buried at Gwytherin 25 March 1876 age 38
1871 census Tyddyn Dafydd, Gwytherin John Williams 37 Farmer born Gwytherin Ellen 32 born Llangerniew Elias 7 born Gwytherin Thomas J 4 " " Elizabeth 1 " "
With regard to Hugh there is a Hugh Williams born 1873 Gwytherin and a John Owen Williams age 1 buried 21 May 1875 Gwytherin
The family seems to have broken up after Ellen's death. Hope this helps, Nellie

Hi, I have not seen the pic on facebook so unable to comment. There are/were a lot of Carringtons in Coedpoeth about the time you are referring to and I do not think they were related--but not certain. Charlie used to write to me when I was in the RAF and kept me informed what was happening in Minera for a few years even though he was not related etc. I remember him living in his later years in Penygelli Hall Home and spoke to him several times while he was there, but do not know anything personal about him or his family-sorry. There are quite a few people on this site who are related to the Coedpoeth Carringtons and I feel sure one of them will clarify the relationship if any-Cheers Tom
