Bethel Calvinistic Methodist Chapel was located on Gwern-y-gaseg Road, Minera, down the road from the Five Crosses Inn on the left hand side. Does anyone have any information on this chapel, and what year it closed / was demolished'?'

Found in Yesteryear in Minera by Clifford Davies. Below the public house and Owen`s farm buildings where Aldergrove Place was the site of the first Bethel Chapel. built in 1859. In Jan 1863 in the WXM Advertiser it was reported that it was broken into on Christmas Eve . the locks on every door and drawer were broken but there was nothing to take but a candle! The bulding became unsafe about 1878 due to subsidence of the Jockey Mine and a New Bethel was built in the Smelt.
The old chapel became a workshop for Mr G F Wynne , Minera Mining Co. I do not remember the chapel but the stone wall surrounding it was there until the first building on the industrial estate was built about 1970
I have edited these extracts. I think I am really lucky to have these little booklets, never ever to be seen or sold on Ebay. ;D
