Can anyone help me to locate a property that is somewhere on Talwrn Road, Coedpoeth. It is said to be called "Tyn Y Felyn," (Error, actually called Ty'n Y Ffynnon)it is detached, I beleive painted white and faces down towards Southsea rather than on to the road. Would be grateful for any help. Thanks. Lynn

Of course you can ask but I might not be telling ;D! Ok then , my uncle told another family member some years ago before he died, that it was a the family home of my Jones' family in the early part of 20th century up to 1940s. To enable me to check out who was living there I need to know if the name is correct and also I might like to have a look at it when I visit in the near future. Lynn

I have found out that the property is actually called "Tyn-Y-Ffynnon" and was 6, Griffith's Road, according to the electoral register of 1950. Is it still there? It may not look quite like it was described.

I've just learned that Tyn y Ffynnon was used for worship prior to Bathafarn Chapel opening in 1901.

Annedw, I was speaking to someone from the local area yesterday and he was saying that the property was a bit run down and the garden was over grown. He also told me that you got to it via a drive. Does it sound like the same one? He may not realise that the house name has changed. I shall try to contact him again. Thanks for trying to find it for me, I have been trying to locate it for ages!

Hi Annette, Thankyou so very much for the photo. Now that I have made contact with someone who knows of the property, I shall recontact him for further info. It was just by coincidence that I mentioned the house name to him yesterday, whilst discussing another family history issue, and I was very suprised to find that he had knew the house name when I mentioned 6, Griffiths Road! I shall let you know what he has to say.

The house is on the left handside but dont know if it has changed its name at anytime. Its gate is on the roadside but you go up a drive apparently to the property. A family called Roberts lived there in the 1950s+ so I am told. These are no relation to me. Does anyone recognise the description?

I did eventually locate the property which used to be Griffiths Road and now Bryn Drive. Not a change of position just a different entrance. ;D The house is now up for sale, can anyone tell me the estate agent cos I would love to see the details. Now who's nosey!

Tyn y Ffynnon is for sale by Kent Jones, Wrexham. The postal address for this now dilapidated cottage is still Griffiths Road, but there is now access to the side of it from Bryn Drive. The Roberts family have lived there for about 60 years, and the cottage and large piece of ground was sold about 4 months ago by the grandson, the last in the line of the Roberts family. It has been bought by a local and he has planning in to the council for a 4 bedroom house to be built, they are living in a large mobile caravan on site, but he has left the cottage on the market. Hope this helps Christine

Many thanks Christine. I guess it will soon have disappeared then. Such a shame. My Gt Aunt continued to live there after my Gt Grandparents died and after she was widowed, the Roberts family lived with her. I took a photo some time ago when I eventually managed to find it. I guess it would've looked down towards Southsea as I was told, before the newer houses were built.

Hi Eluned, I was at the Coedpoeth History Group meeting last night and one of the pics shown was of Tyn Y Ffynnon as the speakers topic was Welsh Methodism in Coedpoeth last century. I am afraid I cannot enlarge on this but I know the name of the speaker etc if it is of any interest--He is a mine of information regarding the chapels etc and I am sure he would be able to help. Regards Tom

Hi Tominera, I am already in touch with Emyr thanks. I first met him at the service for the reinterments from Rehoboth Chapel, at Coedpeoth cemetery. I would have liked to have heard his talks, as I know that he was also mentioning Griffith Evans who was my great grandfather.
Many thanks for this anyway.

Hi Jas, Unsure if you will know which family I mean but the first Roberts to live there were Evan Owen and Blodwen Roberts, back in the 1930's. My Jones ancestors lived there from at least 1890 and possibly before. The Robert's family moved in with my great Aunt Annie Griffiths and they all lived there until she died. I don't know if the Roberts family owned it whilst my Jones' were there or if they bought it later on. I now have the sale particulars sent from the estate agents which has been great to see. Thanks to everyone for all their help, very much appreciated.
