On the 1871 census for Froncysyllte, I have my great grandmother Ann Rogers living at Vron cottages, with her son, Meredith Rogers, and brothers Edward Rogers and Kendrick Rogers. Also listed is Ellen Hughes, age 8 yrs, (? born ca 1863)described as "niece". Anns other sibs were William Rogers and Elizabeth Rogers, therefore Ellen must be the daughter of Elizabeth Rogers, whom I assume married Hughes. I have been unable to find a marriage for Elizabeth or any further record of Ellen. To complicate matters, by the 1881 census, Ann Rogers now has 3 sons, still listed as unmarried and has changed her surname and those of her sons, to Davies. That was mystery enough, but her brother Kendrick also changed his surname to Davies in that time frame. In the 1891 census, Anne is still Davies and calls herself a widow. Any help would be much appreciated. Mary

Perhaps getting the birth certificates or finding the baptisms of sons Edwin age 26 and Mark age 18 in 1891 might help. This will give you a fathers name, and may show if they were illegitimate or not. There is also a John E born c 1876
Mark Rogers birth registered1872 Oct qtr. Corwen district 11b 375. Corwen would cover Llangollen/Froncysyllte.
Edwin Rogers There are few around born 1865 Wrexham, Oswestry districts.
