I'm interested in the family of Robert Parry who in the 1901 census for Minera lived at 2 Bryn Dedwydd. He was 39, wife Sarah, 30 of Tryddyn and children Henry 11; David, 10; Elizabeth J., 07; Margaret, 05; John, 02. Children, & father who was alabourer in a lead mine, were all born in Llandegla. Keith.

Hi, I am quite surprised to find only one Robert Parry buried in Coedpoeth Cemetery and he does not look a very likely candidate---Robert Parry aged 89 yrs died 2 2 1954 bur 6 2 1954 also a Harriet Parry(poss 1st wife) aged 33 yrs died 17 5 1899 bur 20 1 1899 (dob are good)there is a headstone LW IMG 8166 And the plot no is 249. There are no Parrys with the names given on the 1937 electors list for Minera- I remember Bryn Dedwydd as a row of 5 Cottages known locally as the Barracks about the 1950's Good Luck Tom

Hello keithazel , welcome to Minera I found these births on Free BMD Henry Parry, Sept qtr 1888 registered Ruthin which covers Llandegla. Mar 1885 Robert Hughes Parry The only likely HP is this one in 1891 Could be that the mother had died and Robert was living elsewhere , probably the same one as Eluned has found. 1891 RG12; Piece: 4620; Folio 15; Page 6 Living at Pennant Ucha , Llanarmon. Llanarmon is quite close to Llandegla. David Roberts widower 66 farmer b Llanarmon Jane dau 30 single b " Robert Hughes Parry grandson 6 b " Henry Parry grandson 2 b " This looks good ;D ;D ;D RG11; Piece: 5521; Folio: 18; Page: 7; 1881 Pennant Ucha Bodigrer Abbot, Llanarmon David Roberts 55 farmer b Llanarmon Mary wife 59 Jane dau unm 29 Robert Parry marr son in law 22 ag lab b Llanarmon Margaret Parry dau marr 20 wife John David Parry grandson 3 months So it looks like Robert married Margaret Roberts, who died sometime between 1881 /1891, he then remarried Sarah from Tryddyn. Free BMD Marriages Jun 1879 PARRY Robert Ruthin 11b 533 ROBERTS Margaret Ruthin 11b 533

One is son of John and Jane, the other son of Robert and Janet, who in 1871, is using Henry as his middle name. I shall look into this later unless someone else wishes to solve the problem

It looks like you need the marriage in 1879 of Robert to Margaret to find which is the correct one.
Free BMD There is no Robert Parry between 1891/1901 married to a Sarah in Denbs. There are three possibles in Flintshire , Dec 1892 Holywell dist, Sept 1899 Holywell dist, Sept 1900 Holywell dist. Tryddyn was in Flints. As Elizabeth J was 7 born c 1893/4 in 1901, I would go for the 1892 one. Problem is there are five names on the page and you can`t be sure that Robert Parry married Sarah Elizabeth Edwards.

Keithazel At the moment we have found as much positive detail as we can. Without knowing which of Roberts wives you are possibly descended from , and without knowing who Roberts father was then we can`t really go much further. You will find this info on the marriage certificate. It looks like one Parry family came from Denbighshire and the other from Caernarvonshire. If and when you obtain the marriage certificate for Robert and Margaret, then you can tell us the details and we can try to help go further. As it`s a civil marriage there will be no record of it in Parish Registers, so it will have to a case of ordering the certificate. Has this been of use to you so far.

Thanks to you all for the splendid collection of information with regard to Robert Parry. The Llanarmon / Llandegla ( Bodigre Yarll) Robert was my target & not the Caernarvon ones who had a grocers shop in Llandegla. Eluned's Robert Henry was the key. I believe that I can now complete the link upto his grandson Cledwyn Parry, who had asked whether I might have a go at tracing his links back to a Thomas Parry, of Saeth Daren, Llandegla of the early 1700's and his son Thomas of Llainwen ucha, Pentrecelyn and in turn John, who lived in Tyn y cornel, Llandegla and appears as the sole occupant of a grave in Llandegla Churchyard. Now to chase the suggested Marriage cert. Again thanks for all the help & tips. Keith.
