Robert Oldfield was the son of Jonah Oldfield who died in Mar q 1864 in Wrexham district. He was the half brother of Jonathan born about 1862 to Jonah and to Jane formerly Roberts.
I believe that she was the mother of William Roberts my great grandfather who married Harriet Jones in 1873.[see a new post about them put in a few days ago] In 1861 census Jane and Jonah can be found with 12 children between them.Robert Oldfield is one of them.
Nor have I found Jane and her Roberts children in 1851 and possibly 1841 so I don't yet know who he was. They were apparently born in Yspytty Evan from Jane1840/1 to William 1851.I need to get some certificates
Robert and family lived near Jonathan and family in 1891 in Minera-near Marian House and the White Horse public house. Any way there seems to be a tenuous link between us here. Sue
In 1881 Jonathan, a lead miners labourer is living with his half siblings Margaret Roberts 35 and Henry Roberts 26 at Bryneithinog , Minera. Later Jonathan married Mary Evans Mar q 1888.

Hi, Thanks again and you are absolutely right with the very remote connection- One of my wifes cousins married a Robert Evans b1896 who was the son of Aaron Evans b1861 and Ruth Oldfield b21 1 1861--- Ruth was a widow having been married to Johnathan Jones b1855 in 1885--Will gladly share what I have if you send me a PM with your details, but you probably have more than me already Regards Tom

Hi Tom, I have only got what I have deduced from censuses.
The link to the 2 families-Roberts and Oldfield would be through Jonathan Oldfield who was a half sibling to each of them. Ruth did live with them all in 1861 census.

Hi Tom and Sue, I noticed this on my Wesleyan Burials thread "Elizabeth Oldfield, Church St, Coedpoeth 66yrs, buried Coedpoeth Cemetery July 7 1909." This was taken from the Cylchgrawn Wesleyan magazine. If you would like further info, please send me a PM.

I have added some photos to the Thread " William Roberts and Harriet Jones" .The mystery lady 'might' be a Roberts, a Jones or an Oldfield step aunt.
I have acquired an old photo album with lots of Roberts relations in it.Trouble is there are very few names and we no longer know how close the links were with all the extended family.
There are various photos of 1916--1922 of young women signing themselves Ada/Lucy/Dollie and Olwen. It might be best to try me on a PM if you would like to look at their photo.I cannot fill up the site with them all!! ;)We can add them if they prove to be from Minera area.
Sue
