Hi everyone,
I had a bit of break through with the Kelly surname but have been unable to link it to my line, as yet
The surnames Keeling and Keling and others are alternatives to Kelly within the Wrexham area. I have confirmed this via documentation where it states Kelly aka Keeling
A will dated 1804 for Edward Keeling, Minera , buried as Edward Kelly, batchelor , at St Giles leaves money to his brother Thomas who is no longer living locally and property to his two nephews Thomas and Joseph.
I think this may be them.
St Giles Apr 22, 1781 Jos & Thomas Keylee, twins to James, miner, Minera
This would mean there were three brothers but James has probably died. There is a James Kelly buried St Giles in 1794. They become tradesmen in their own right, Joseph an ironmonger and Thomas a nailor.
I wondered if this is Joseph? buried 1823 Joseph Kelly, Esclusham Above. 48yrs
I am more confident that this is Thomas, buried 1821 Thomas Kelly Pentrefellin 40yrs.
Both are buried at St Giles.
He also leaves small amounts of money to relatives including Thomas, John and Maryann Keeling of Minera. I so wish he had said what the relationships were!
I have collected most of the Kelly and alternative names from the Parish Registers of Wrexham and the surrounding area so not look ups required at the moment thank you but if anyone has any further information on them, I would be happy to receive.
I haven’t given up yet as I still have some other sources to search so watch this space!!! ;D
