I have done some research for you regarding your Roberts/Hughes and found that Hannah Roberts the Wife of John Roberts was born in 1839 in Bwlchgwyn
Name: Hannah Roberts
Year of Registration: 1839
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Wrexham (1837-1974)
County: Cheshire
Volume: 27
Page: 295
On the census returns from 1901 working back I have found the following:
Hannah was shown on the 1901 census as living at 8 Llewellyn Road, Brymbo aged 60 place of birth is given as Minera. She is listed together with her husband John Davies now age 62, Occupation Coalminer (Hewer) being born in Oswestry, Shropshire with them at the property is their grandson David Davies aged 10 who was born in Brymbo
In 1891 Hannah and John are living at Paseton Terrace, Vron, Brymbo aged 53 and 52 respectively, Their Son-in-law is listed as Jenkins (looks like) Davies aged 24 a coal miner who was born in Rhos, His Wife Eliza Davies aged 23 is also resident although I believe their surname is incorrect. Also in the property is Isiah age 21 Hannah E aged 15 and Sarah Ann aged 19 all born in Brymbo.
In 1881 John and Hannah are shown on the Census as Living at Vron but the exact address is not given they are both now shown as aged 42. John is seen as being employed as a Coal miner and was born in Baschurch, Shropshire (Salop) Hannah being born in Brymbo. Their Children are as follows John aged 17 (General Labourer), Eliza aged 13, Esiah (maybe should be spelled Isiah ?) aged 11, Sarah Ann aged 8, Mary Elizabeth aged 5.
1871 Census shows John and Hannah as living at the Weighing House, Penrhos (pictures of the Machine house which was next to it can be seen on this link
www.homestead.com/owensaw/PenrhosEngineHouse.html)John is Aged 32 and Hannah Aged 33 although John states he was born in Oswestry Hannah States she was born in Minera. Their children are listed as John aged 8, Mary aged 6, Eliza aged 4 and Esaw (is this Isiah or Ezra ?) aged 1
Cannot locate her on the 1861 Census as I assume she was in service at this time and unsure which Hannah Roberts was the correct one.
In 1851 Hannah Roberts is found living with her mother Mary at Blwchgwyn, Brymbo her mother Mary aged 30 is a Widow, she was born in Llanfair Dryffin Clwyd around 1821, Hannah is age 11 and Eliza aged 6, Their brother Enoch is age 2 ½.
Im assuming that the name Ezra was incorrect or the family could not spell the name there is a possibility that the name Isaiah could be Ezra, I have found an entry in 1839 for an Isaiah Roberts and either a Mary Jones, Edwards or Belton, all on the same page
Name: Isaiah Roberts
Year of Registration: 1839
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Wrexham (1837-1974)
County: Cheshire
Volume: 27

Taking this into account there is also a death entry in 1849 that would tie in with Mary being widowed by 1851
Name: Isaiah Roberts
Year of Registration: 1849
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Wrexham (1837-1974)
County: Cheshire
Volume: 27

It appears that working back up the years Enoch died around the latter end of the 1850’s there are 2 entris and Im not certain which one is him, Im sure he passed away though as there is no trace of him in later census returns
Name: Enoch Roberts
Year of Registration: 1856

County: Cheshire
Volume: 11b

By 1861 Mary Roberts cannot be located, as suspected earlier Hannah is most probably in Service and Enoch has died. Eliza is located on the 1861 Census at Benson Hall, Esclusham Above, Minera aged 16 and a Scholar, she is shown as the niece of John Abraham aged 40 a lead Miner and his Wife Elizabeth aged 36 both born in Wrexham, also living at the property is their son Ellis Abraham aged 3.
By 1864 Eliza has married and moved to Hope
Marriage Apr May Jun 1864
Roberts Eliza Wrexham 11b 541

In 1871 Eliza now aged 26 born in Wrexham is living in Nant y Ffrith, Hope with her Husband George Hughes aged 30 a Coal miner born in Hope, They have 3 children, Ann aged 7, Jeremiah aged 5 and Mary age 2 all born in Hope.
By 1881 still living at Ffrith George is shown aged 40 and Eliza aged 35, Her place of birth is now listed as Bwlchgwyn. Their children are as follows, Jeremiah aged 14 Coal Miners Labourer, Mary age 11, Emma age 8, Alice age 6 & Sarah E age 3.

Also in residence is Mary E Evans whom I believe previously be known as Mary Roberts, Eliza’s mother. She is aged 70 and is a Widow.
By 1901 George and Eliza are living at Chapel terrace Ffrith, george is age 62 and is a Road/Train labourer, Eliza ia age 58, their daughter Emma is age 29 Noah is 18 and a Bricklayer, Lorie is 14 and Harry who is now listed as their Grandson is 12.
Backtracking on Mary Evans she is located in the 1881 census at Railway Cottage, Lodge Brymbo with her Son in Law Thomas Smith age 29 and a Machine Clerk and her Daughter Mary Smith (nee Evans) age 24.
The possible Death of Mary Evans is in 1892 at the age of 72
