Hello there I don't often post to the board but I'm often on here reading your posts. When I read the one about Peter Christmas Evans it jerked my memory. Mum has mentioned on occasion a Christmas Evans who was a cousin of (I think) one of my grandparents. We don't know anything about him except he went to Patagonia. I know it's very little information but I wondered if anyone else had heard of a Christmas Evans who went to Patagonia (there's probably thousands of them, eh)? Deb

Finally received a message from my uncle re: Christmas Evans. Unfortunately he can't remember much except that Christmas was (he thinks) a 1st or 2nd cousin of my grandfather, Thomas Emlyn Francis. He thought that Christmas may have left for 'the Americas' c1910 - 1930. Not much use I know but if anyone can help I would be most grateful. Thanks Deb

Hi Deb findmypast has an entry for a Christmas Evans (no age just says Adult) departing for NewYork in 1909. It's pay per view and I'm out of credits but you might want to take a look just in case there are any clues Heather

Hi I didn't have much time so I just looked up the one Heather mentioned but am wondering if I missed some information ie age Christmas Evans departed for New York from Holyhead on 25 Sep 1909 Ship - Baltic, White Star Line He was a single, male adult and an ironmonger. The only other Evans on board was a Griffith but I didn't have a chance to look for him. eluned

Hi Deb
There is a returning pasenger from New York, occupation Christmas Evans, Welsh in 1910 so there is every likelihood the 1909 passagemaker was not your man. He could well have a made a direct passage but not transcribed as Christmas. Just C Evans to Buenos Aires for example. Have you looked into records for Patagonia and found him there? Any other clues as to his age? Did he ever some back or keep in touch with anyone in Wales? If you do a blanket search on the name in FreeBMD there are 18 registered births from 1859 to 1906! The odd thing is that they weren't all registered in a December quarter. I guess some were named for the famous preacher of the same name rather than because they were born on Christmas Day

jojo thank you. I'll try a google search for patagonia and see what I come up with. Unfortunately mum and her brother are the only ones left that we know of and that was all that they could remember being told about him. I just thought it would be interesting to find out more about him and perhaps we may still have relations in 'the Americas'. Deb

Hi Eluned Sorry I must have overlooked your recent post about Peter Christmas Evans............too much going on at the moment. It could very well be the same person that I am looking for but unfortunately I have so very little information about him. Deb
