I think I can see Minera Church tower , and could be Tyn y Capel in front. I`m not sure when or where it was taken from , but somebody will know. Attachments:

The photo is taken from the road towards the city arms. You can see what was the home in the top left quartile and the long building in the bottom right is now a house called Swn Y Dwr. This was formerly a mill thus the name for the area the Felin.

what a fantastic old picture. Quite correct on location. Taken from the top of the pentre hill(pentre cottages are behind the camera). The house on the the left is pen y bont house above the old barn now called swyn y dwr. Ty brith is just out of shot behind tree on left. My grandfathers chicken/ hen kit(shed) is in the field our family called the busfield as the hens were kept one time in an old bus at the bottom of the field. The mill was opposite the bldg known as swn yr dwr the other side of the bridge. Thus the area below the bridge was the the felin adjacent to the felin hill. In my mother megans time living at ty brith (daughter of Glyn Davies ) the area was referred to as pen y bont now the area is known as the pentre. The hen shed was put there in the early 1930's . The picture probbably dates as pre 2 world war as an air raid shelter was bulit in front of swn y dwr during the war.

Hi Annette, You are quite right about the path and the "Forty Steps" which bring you out about 50 yards from the Church or Tyn y Capel-- ::)The choice is yours depending what you are looking for Tom

Just to put the picture right. The building to which you refer was never the old mill and the area was known as Penybont. The building was known as The Slaughter House, and Ty Brith kept their tractor in one part. I well remember accompanying the late Cliff Davies up to the Granary, accessed by a set of stone steps outside the building,at the bridge end, in an effort to dispatch rats. The Felin was some 150 yards downstream of this bridge, and there were four cottages there; where I once resided. The picture certainly was an old one judging by the grass running up the centre of the road, and the hill was always a problem particularly for brengun carriers, trying to negotiate the descent. I seem to recall one crashing into the wall of this property just where the air raid shelter was. Hen Locsin
