Has any body heard of a Nellie Wilmot from coedpoeth ?
She passed away some years ago and was married more than once. She had 3 daughters ( one went to live in Australia) and a son who I belivie may have been called Hayden (now passed away)
The lady in question is some how related to my Jones Family that i'm researching but as yet cant find a connection.
Any help would be great

Was she Wilmot when she was born or when she died.
There are a few Wilmots on North Wales Free BMD but this is only till 1950. One is a marriage to a Jones, but her name was Matilda.
There are no Wilmots in the area in 1901.

Now you have some idea of my problem.
If she did marry a "jones" was she still refered to as wilmot as a form of nick name to show differences between "The jones" to stop confusing people as to who's Jones was who's ? Was "Nellie " a bet name ?
Same as my own "Jones" where known as the "Betson's" (Betty's sons ??)
I know she remarried someone nicked named "Cabbage" Who's daughter from his 1st marriage was murdered in Hightown, I'm told in the 60's

Thank's.
I've already tried that. Why i'm working on the lines I'm looking for someones nickname.
Would have been much happier if she was a Jones. I just cant get the surname Wilmot to fit in.
I cant find a Hayden Wilmot ither. But can for Jones.

You could try Wrexham Museum and see if there are any records of murders in their files. They have lots of newspapers cuttings on various subjects. Or , trawl through the newpapers on microfilm for the incident, and see what names you can gain from that. There could be an obituary that will have Charlies surname , and hopefully trace his marriage to Nellie from that. As long as he isn`t a Jones that is

Apologies. It's the way I worded things. I ment to say" I was lead to belivie he was the father of the" murdered girl in hightown" Will have to find a copy of the North Wales murder casebook as the crime is in there. My copy has gone walk about. This will give the surname of Nellies last husband and hopefully lead to her death certificate. Just seem's strage to hear many referances to "NELLIE WILMOT" and yet not find her. Just as a point of interest a relation of mine is in the book as a murder victim. Garry

Got the marriage , ;D
Charles R Roberts Ellen Wilmott 1970 Sept qtr Wrexham Ref no 6a 1266.
The marriage cert will give Ellens previous name, and hopefully her status, ie widow, I expect it would be a civil ceremony so if it was it won`t be in the parish register.

John T Phillips married Nellie Jones at St Mary`s Ruabon June qtr 1936. This is the only match with a Jones and Phillips.
Now I haven`t a clue if this could be your Nellie / Ellen Wilmott. There`s nothing to give a clue to her age. Nellie Wilmotts last husband Charles was born 1915, she could have been about the same age. What do you think ? Ruabon Prs are on microfilm at the Museum in Wrexham , there could be a clue about Nellie Jones in there. I really don`t know now, but am trying my best.
I`ve sent a private message.

Well done Garry, great when it all comes up trumps. I was born and raised in Rhyl till I was about 4, my Mum and Dad rented a flat from a lady I used to call Auntie Wilmott, She had a son a couple of years older than me , and after we moved to Wrexham and we went back to visit her, he was always at home. She always had a plate of cold sausages for us `cos we used to love them. I`d forgotten all about this until your post, when I was looking for Nellie, the sons birth entry came up and I knew the name , I wonder what he`s doing now. Funny how a thing like that can jog your memory. Nothing to do with your query, but it was nice to remember. I still love cold sausages ;D ;D
