Hi, i am looking for any info about Thomas Owen Jones who was killed in Plas Power Colliery in 1931 aged 49yrs, he was married to a Laura, in particular am looking to find a son for them who was crushed by a wall at a young age? I have records of children born to them between 1906 - 1922. Thanks Julie

Hi Julie and welcome Do you know the name of the son who died or is it a family story you are trying to prove? Where did the famly live please? There should be some information with regard to Thomas accident in the newspapers. These are available at the A N Palmer Centre in Wrexham www.wrexham.gov.uk/assets/pdfs/museum/newspapers_held.pdf

Hi Julie I have Thomas Owen and Wilfred in my tree also. Also have the same stories about the wall too and Thomas being killed at Plas Power though don't have much more detail than you by the sound of it.
My nain was Louisa (thomas' daughter)
Thanks too to all who have posted replys to this thread, especially the gravestone photo. Got loads of info from it.

24/1/1931 : 5 men were working on a repair shift on a Saturday afternoon, they were preparing a roof to set a girder, the place was extremely wet and steel sheeting had been set to protect the men from dripping water. 2 men had been sent to fetch a pit prop. Suddenley there was a massive fall approximately 250 tons which buried and killed 3 men immediately. A rescue party was formed, working through the night it took over 12 hours to extricate the dead men.
