Hi. I'm fairly new to this family research thing. My grandmother was born in Bwlchgwyn in 1894. Her father was Hugh Jones born around 1864. On the census of 1871, Hugh's mother Jemima Jones is shown as living at Nant, in the Civil Parish of Hope and the Ecclesiastical District of Llanfywydd. Hugh's mother is 44 and recorded as a farmers widow. I do not know Hugh's fathers name yet. In the Census of 1881, Hugh is recorded as a blacksmith, living with his mother and siblings at Pen y Nant. One of the Census entries on the previous page has recorded the village as Nant-y-ffrith which is a very short distance from Bwlchgwyn. Is any familiar with a small farm or property called Pen y Nant in the area? Many thanks.

There is a farm called Pen Y Nant about 3 or 4 miles from Nant y Ffrith. It is situated on a side road/lane near to Bedwen Lodge off Ffordd Llanarmon which is off the A5104.

Thank for taking the time to reply, and for the information. I am in North Wales in September, so will take a look. Thanks again.
