I have access to the purchaser's name of burial plots and their locations at Bethesda cemetery in Bwlchgwyn. Considering the number of plots without headstones, this may be a valuable resource to family historians. I am hoping to upload this resource onto the Bwlchgwyn section of the minerahistory web pages soon. In the meantime, if anybody wishes to request I take a look for any such info.... shout! A booklet listing the memorial inscriptions of headstones at Bethesda is availiable from the genfair website.

I too have some Edwards in Bethesda , Emlyn and his wife Alice, also their son Brinley who died 1997 , he was my father in law. Emlyn had a brother Hugh who was killed in France in 1918. Another brother was James William Edwards. I also have a `presentation clock` given to William Edwards, in 1928 for his services as conductor at Bethesda Chapel ( same William ?) Another Edwards was famous for breeding bulldogs, and it is said that Winston Churchill bought one I think he was Emlyn`s brother. I wonder if these are related to Robert.

I havent come across anything that links Robert to your Edwards's.
Robert had a brother John Price Edwards and 3 sisters Ruth, Maria and Elizabeth.
Robert moved to Leigh, Lancs sometime between 1906 and 1912.

Coedpoeth cemetery should have a monumental inscription booklet which is availiable from the genfair website. Whatwith Rehoboth Chapel about to be developed upon, I very much hope inscriptions have been noted in its cemetery.

Hi Annette,
William James Edwards had a brother, Hugh Owen Edwards, and a sister, Florrie. Hugh was killed in WW1. I'm not aware of an Emly, though. William James Edwards and his wife Annie used to breed bulldogs, certainly, he was one of the judges at Crufts and the dogs won many prizes - I was scared of them, though!

Hi - postscript My records show (and they were told to me as a family history so are not verified as such), that William James Edwards' wife, Annie Williams, was the daughter of an Emlyn and a Megan. William James and Annie were cousins who married, so that bit of the family tree gets a bit complex!

In the book ` Brymbo and its neighborhood `there is a list of men of military age.
There is Hugh O Edwards, Tanygraig, miner single. My husbands father who was Brinley Edwards, has added - my fathers brother to this, and also that Emlyn Edwards, Tanygraig, miner is his father. Hugh O was killed in France in 1918. Thanks for the info .
REHOBOTH CHAPEL I am sure I have seen a MI list in Wrexham Museum, done by a Tom Mercer of Coedpoeth, I could be mistaken though.

I can reveal that 'wheels are still in motion' regarding the efforts of the 'Friends Of Bethesda Cemetery'.
In light of the publicised events of Rehoboth graveyard in Coedpoeth, it has been a breath of fresh air to receive communication favourable in Bethesda Cemetery being re-introdced as a burial facility for the village.
The motion of introducing burials on the area where the chapel once stood is essential in raising the funds to keep ALL the cemetery in a reasonable condition, maintaining and protecting existing burial area's.
I would urge anyone with ancestors in Bethesda to join the 30 or so existing 'friends of the cemetery'. A small donation of a few quid will help with postage & printing costs which is incurred as the group strives to ensure the cemetery remains a burial ground and nothing else.

thanks for the extra clues about the Edwards - I only looked into these when I found I was related to them and, as yet, I haven't delved very deeply - I might have a search next time it's quiet at work!

I used to walk down Nat Road every Wednesday afternoon for my piano lesson with Miss Hughes at Gorphwysfa, I was at Bwlchgwyn school at the time, and I used to think that Nant Road was a very scary place. I can't think, offhand, which would be number 5, but there was one house on the left that seemed particularly scary, I think it had a large barking dog as well!
