My condolences go out to his family, He brought a lot of joy to people with his family history interests and without his knowledge we wouldn't know half as much as we do He will be sadly missed

Hi. I'm Mark Davies, son of J Clifford Davies. Thanks for the kind words you have expressed about my late father. My mother, brother and I are very grateful. We will be endeavouring to carry on his good work if possible, but none of us have his abilities, and all have many commitments. All the best with your website, and thanks again to wellwishers. Mark.

It was only today when walking the site of the Minera Lime Works that I learned of the demise of my old friend Cliff with whom I shared many reminiscences. I was saddened that I was unable to attend the funeral, having known the family for many years and passed to Grove Park Grammar School at the same time as his younger sister;my condolences to all the family at this sad time.

I owe so much to dear Clifford. He was so generous to me in sharing information which helped me in writing about my evacuation to Bwlchgwyn during the war. It was mainly from him that I learned so much about the history of the village and the school etc. He also gave me his last copy of his book 'Minera and Me' which I often return to when I fancy a good laugh. I only met him once but we emailed frequently and I counted him as a dear friend. I will miss him very much.

As was discussed some time ago, I think the time is right to start thinking of providing a 'JC Davies' page on the minera section of the website.
If anyone would like to share some thoughts on this then please do.

Cliff's son Mark gave his blessing for us to transcribe any info from Cliffs books, but personally thats not my bag, and any transcribing will be brief. I am leaning to a format where we list Cliff and his father Glyn's publication's with a listing of topics covered in each booklet. Regardless, I will send Mark an email prior to any such webpage going online to ensure everyone is happy with everything.

I`m lucky enough to have six of J C Davies`s booklets and `Not Long Ago` by his father Glyn Davies. I know Clifford used to make a few copies of these for people , but can you still get hold of them.

I would rather pay a fair price to the family for a new copy than £45 on Amazon for a second-hand copy.........(one of the "Minera" books)
