Hi Annette,
It has changed, a lot! They used to grant permission for you to put 10 images on a personal website provided that the correct copyright citation was attached. Now they've turned it into a blatant selling machine, where we used to consider it one of the best resources on the web! The amount of picture you are allowed to see is also so small on the enlarged view that, in unfamiliar territory, it can be difficult to navigate and find what you want.
There again, they are a commercial organisation and although the maps are old, they hold the copyright to the new digital images.
Modern maps on mult-map.
btw, I wrote and told them what I thought when they first changed it all, a few months ago; they said the database driving the old website was now out of date and could not cope with modern demands and that they were taking the opportunity to refresh the look of the site.
Hope this helps.....Hilary

Thanks Hilary, I wondered if it was me again. It seems that as soon as there is a good use for something , then `they` want their moneys worth out of it.

They told me they had a lot of complaints, so they were going to keep the old site for a while, and I used to click on "nostalgic for the old site?" - but that has gone now. How are you getting to the old site? I still can't get the full screen enlargement either, only a small screen enlargement by using the zoom at the side of the screen.
Help! Hilary

Aha!! My pop-up blocker was blocking it! One click and it just said "tough!" - but two click, and it sprung into action in the old fashioned way! Fantastic!
Thanks a lot Hilary
