Hi John
Welcome, I don't recognise any of your relatives I,m afraid but it thought I'd let you know that my Great grandfather Gabriel Jones was born in Ty Gwyn, Minera back in 1855. It's a very pretty cottage if you haven't had the chance to visit Minera yet. I hope you get some feedback on the website, its very good! Regards Clare

Hi everyone. Thanks for the welcome to the site. My father Robert Hugh Hughes c1905 from Tan-y-graig Minera apperantly was involved in a motor cycle accident at Nant -y-garth on the Ruthin road ......family gossip says he was hit by a car driven by a doctor[very conviently] I wonder if anyone has any information on it, my father owned two properties in Wrexham before his marriage in 1937 which leads me to think that he must have had some sort of compensation from the accident to have been able to buy them I think the accident may have happened between 1920 and his marriage in 1937. I wonder if this event is recorded in any minera history/newspaper or other place regards John west Sussex.

Hi John, I knew that the address was familiar! I think that there were two or three cottages at TanyGraig, as indicated by the address that you quote. Tan Y Graig Canol would be the middle one. I had a relative, the wife of my grand uncle lived there ( TanyGraig Uchaf) or [ Highest] during the 1891 Census, the name was Margaret Jane Jones though. So obviously neighbours at some point. The view from there is to be commended, although perilously close to the German bombs when they attacked the Minera Mountain, but that's another story. Hen Locsin The Welsh Lesson is for free!!!!
