This would be for Annette and this is my first time posting. I do hope you can shed some light on this extract from your posting nearly a year ago; I have cut out the relevant part. Emily Jane( Daviney) Jones was my Granny. I can’t believe that she was pregnant when she married; she was always so strait laced! Here is the extract:
1909/10 EVENTS AT BWLCHGWYN CHURCH « Thread Started on Apr 11, 2006, 3:01pm » December 25 The marriage of Joseph Jones to Emily Jane Daviney took place. April 17 Baptism of Mary, daughter of Joseph and Emily Jane Jones.
Emily Daviney was living with her mother Mary Brown in Rhydtalog at the time of the 1901 census. Looking at a map Rhydtalog wouldn’t be too far from Bwlchgwyn. These are a couple of questions that I need answered: What happened to baby Mary? My dad never mentioned that he had a sister? I have no information on Joseph Jones. He was out of the picture when I was a child. Is there any way to find out who attended the wedding? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dot

Hello Dot, Sorry but at the moment this is all there is. The extract is from a book compiled of all the church magazines for the area, and only for those years. I suppose you could find the parish register entry, at least this will give wittnesses and names of the parents. Again looking in the register , you could find that perhaps Mary died before your Dad was born. The registers are at Wrexham museum on microfilm, you will have to book a reader. Maybe someone else can add more.

Thanks for your help Annette. I was hoping that there would be more details.but it was a long shot.I will have to take a trip to Wrexham on my next trip to the UK. How far in advance does one book a reader? I'm at a bit of a disadvantage as I live in Tucson, Arizona. I'm originally from Crosby,Liverpool.

Hello Dot, I often use the Museum, and also one of the " Friends of the Museum" , our facilities are usually quite accessable. Often I go in on the off chance of using a reader, as I have so many other sources to research, it matters little if they're already occupied, however, sensibly usually a week in hand is sufficient. Obviously the more notice, as one is travelling some distance the better. Regards Hen Locsin

Thank you very much for your offer Annette. My dad's name was John Edward Jones and he was born in 1915. I have the district volume and page: Wrexham 11b and it looks like 487,it's a bit hard to read.I'm really interested in his father Joseph Jones as I know absolutely nothing about him. I have the info for their marriage: Joseph Jones and Emily Jane Daviney Wrexham,11b 437. My Gran is a great mystery (old family tales claim that she was born mid-Atlantic) but that is for another time! Again thank you, and any help is greatly appreciated. Dot

In 1901 census there is Emily J Devainey age 12 b Tryddyn .Also her mother Mary J Brown, married, aged 35 born Vauxhall Lancs. She is a besom maker , brush, there is no husband on the page.
They are at Rhyd Talog , Tryddyn. LIVERPOOL, All Souls, Vauxhall (1855-1856) Lancashire I found this , it seems it might be where Mary was born/baptised

In FREE BMDMarriages Jun 1900 (>99%) Brown Hugh Liverpool 8b 118 Daviney Mary Jane Liverpool 8b 118
I wonder if Mary had more children by Hugh Brown. Another thought - where is Hugh in the census and why did they leave the bustle of Liverpool to come to the wilds of North Wales, perhaps there wern`t enough beson bushes in Liverpool to make their brushes ;D

Dear Annette, You are good! Thank you so much for devoting so much time to my strange family. I still can’t find a connection to Challoner, Challiner Challinor(I have never heard this name before anywhere let alone family) and Mary Daviney. I don’t think that Granny Emily had any other siblings. But now that I think about it there was a picture of a young boy. I don’t know if I’m just imaging it, but I think that she said it was her brother or cousin? I do believe it could have been William. You have come across the same as I did for Hugh Brown. I wasn’t too sure, but…. Emily Jane Jones and Joseph named their first son Hugh! (I wonder why he wasn’t named after Joseph) This is my Dad’s only and older brother. He was born in 1912. More intriguing information. As we know from the church magazine Emily and Joseph had a baby Mary in 1910. She was born in Wales. Hugh Jones was born in the Liverpool area, then my Dad John Edward was born in Wales. There was a lot of back and forth it seems. Where was Hugh Brown on the 1901 census? Another question. If Emily lived in Rydd Talog, why was she married in Bwlchgwyn?Would that mean that this was Joseph Jones’s parish? Again thanks. On my next trip I plan to to visit all these villages and try to imagine 100 years ago! Best Regards Dot

You say your dad`s brother Hugh Jones was born Liverpool , have I got that right. I`ll have a look in the Bwlchgwyn parish register on Monday for the names you`ve given me, and keep an eye out for any that might be connected. At least I should get Joseph Jones age, occupation, place of abode , wittnesses and his father. As for Devaney, I think it is an Irish name.
