Hello all
My great grandfather John Carrington (1852-1934) lived in a house called Nantyglyn on Ffordd Isaf. I'm told he also donated some land on the hill above the house for a small chapel to be built - on a road called Allt Y Pentref according to the flashearth map. When I visited the area in June 2006 the chapel building was just undergoing a conversion to a private house. Can anyone tell me the name of the chapel. Would there be any records of baptisms/weddings etc. or was it on offshoot of Rehoboth Chapel just for local worship.
Thanks Heather

Minera by Glyn Davies says: About 1882 John Evans from Eglwysbach came to preach at Bethel, Brymbo, there were 4 young men in the congregation from Pentre Bais, John Carrington being one, they were so inspired under the influence of the preacher they decided a chapel was necessary at Pentre Bais. It cost £450 to build and the land was given by John Carrington. The chapel was named Gwynfyn.
I don't know of any registers being available but from 1888 the Wesleyan magazines "Cylchgrawn" are available at A. N. Palmer centre, containing marriages and baptisms within the circuit.
The local newspapers would have covered the opening of the chapel.
