This poem was sent to me - I would like to share it . Your tombstone stands among the rest, Neglected and alone, The name and date are chiselled out on polished marble stone, It reaches out to all who care - it is too late to mourn, You did not know that I exist - you died and I was born, Yet each of us are cells of you - in flesh - in blood - in bone, Our blood contracts and beats a pulse - entirely not our own, Dear ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago, Spreads out among the ones you left, who would have loved you so, I wonder if you lived and loved - I wonder if you knew, That someday I would find this spot, and come and visit you.

I`ve seen this before and often thought about what our ancestors were really like, especially those from long times ago. With a family name of Wilcoxon, it`s been quite easy to trace, and among the rich, the famous, and the poor there are a few I`d like have known. This one is from a time around the Civil War and I can`t believe what he did. He was from Alvanley , Frodsham. I`ve never been abe to find out what happened to him. Probably hung drawn and quartered Source: "Lectures on the History of S.John Baptist Church and Parish" " in the City of Chester" by Rev. S.Cooper Scott, MA., Vicar published in 18921642 About his time RALPH WILCOXON was accused before RANDLE HOLME of attempting to throw down the City Cross. He pleaded that he had suffered for the Royal cause, and that he was a stranger to Chester, and did not know the situation at the Cross, and being dark he did not discern any form of Cross much less the crown or arms thereon..etc. Much later there is Joseph Wilcoxon , clerk of the council in Coedpoeth who was also on the School boards. He managed to upset the Minera Vicar so much at the opening of the Minera Council Schools that the vicar wrote many letters to the Advertizer about him. Last week I spotted a headline dated 1904 ` A Breezy Managers meeting` It concerned again the Minera Non Provided School, and to cut a long story down, Joseph was `winding `the vicar up about his own rule of 3 days notice for meetings that he `the vicar` had not followed. Every one at the meeting supported Joseph. They were Llew Carrington, Ellis Abraham, GF Wynne, Looking at this, I can see why there are no Wilcoxons in Minera churchyard, and if there were they were probably dug up and deposited elsewhere. ;D ;D ;D SO, who do you wish you could have known.

That is rather lovely. It does really sum it all up doesn't it ..... This is all about our roots, the importance of our ancestors who have gone before, in many ways following this particular path 'keeps them alive' in a strange way. And don't we all wish we had asked more questions of our relatives when they were here to ask! (And don't I wish my son would sort the 'chatroom' problem out I'm having GRRRRRH) Chat (hopefully) to someone soon! Claudia
