Eluned has very kindly shared an obituary she found for my 2xgreat grandmother Maria Carrington, who died age 82 on June 2, 1809 and was buried June 5th at Mwnglawdd Cemetary. I understand that Mwnglawdd is Welsh for Minera but is this the same as Coedpoeth C or another one? I'm hoping that Maria was buried with her husband Francis (who died August 1891) and that I can find the grave and MI if it exists.
Hope someone can help me find these two!

I think this would be Minera Parish Church. I have found that the translations sometimes show "burial ground" rather than either cemetery or churchyard. The Wesleyan magazines usualy say if it was a Coedpoeth burial. Is there a photo on Lee's site? I did do my own quick index from the photos some time ago and I have 3 Carringtons but there may be more. images 7520, 7544, 7549

I haven't been able to find one on Lee's site. Will look again. Another question - there is a Francis Carringon on the Wern C list but no way of knowing which Francis it was Am wondering if it was the other Francis who died in 1892 (from Halkin originally) or mine. Is there any way of finding out the date of the Wern man's burial to check??

My only suggestion is that if there is a MI it may give some clue by showing where he lived or by who else is mentioned on the gravestone. eluned

I still think that it would be Minera Parish Church. Perhaps some kind person would do a look up!

Come to think of it I think Annedw or some one else on here did tell me once that there might be a plaque or something Carrington related inside St. Mary's Does it ring any bells with you annedw? By the way, when Maria died she was living with her granddaughter Barbara and her husband William Williams. If she was buried at the parish church it might explain why she wasn't living at Gwynfryn with my great ggps John & Winifred Carrington as they were very dedicated chapel members As a matter of fact they weren't mentioned in the notice at all ;D

I can`t recall that, but I found this on this site referring to Tom Carrington, would it be this. He died in his home at Coed-poeth, 6 May 1961. In 1963 a memorial plaque was unveiled in Rehoboth Chapel, Coed-poeth.

Hi Annedw Thanks for the reply. This isn't the plaque I was thinking of. It must have been someone else - or perhaps they got Rehoboth and St. Mary's mixed up H
