I love a good mystery and this family seems to fit the bill Ruthin Rd. MIS. Joseph PARRY (husb/o Marian) died Jan 19, 1900 aged 60 years Frederick PARRY (son) died Dec 4, 1876 aged 4 years Marian PARRY (w/o Joseph) Peter EDWARDS killed July 11, 1885 aged 9 years 10 months Joseph PARRY (son) died Feb 5, 1876 aged 1 year 9 months A Marian Parry died reg Wrexham Jun Q 1924 age 83 but I haven't been able to identify Joseph or marriage for Joseph to a Marian. Can't find a death for Peter Edwards either. I wonder under what circumstances he was "killed". Does anyone recognize this family? Merry Christmas everyone. Heather

Don't know Eluned - perhaps it is a mistranscription in the book? It's odd though cos I haven't found a Marian in the censuses nor a Joseph and Marian together There doesn't seem to be marriage on freebmd either. Found one for a Mary Ann & Joseph but nothing for Marian. Whoever young Peter was though an Edwards or a Parry I wonder how he was killed.. H

This really is so odd Frederick Parry age 4 died in 1876 doesn't match either but then there are two Joseph Parrys aged one on the first Q of 1876....

I can't find them in the census either. I did consider Joseph Parry and Miriam at first but they are still both around in 1901 so we can rule them out. ModifiedThere were 2x Joseph and Miriams

This confirms that I found the correct family It just happened to be on the same page as a Kelly obit I was looking at. Yr Cylchgrawn Joseph Parry, tailor and draper, Glan'rafon, who died Jan 19 1900, 60yrs and buried Ruthin Road Jan 22nd So how did poor Peter die?

ModifiedThere were 2x Joseph and Miriams A Marian Parry died reg Wrexham Jun Q 1924 age 83 I think this is the other one, but it just shows how errors in names can occur! Cylchgrawn Miriam Parry died April 5 1924, 83yrs, buried Rhos Cemetery. Doesn't give her husbands name.

Hi Eluned You've been working hard I see Well done ;D At least we now know which Joseph Parry we have in the grave at Ruthin Road. I think Joseph's wife MIRIAM died Dec Q 1876, age 41 Wrexham. Have just found a birth for Peter Edward Parry reg Sep 1875, so that fits nicely Perhaps the gravestone carver was deaf Thanks for your help ;D ;D ADDED There is a death for Frederick Parry registered Dec 1876 but he is transcribed on freebmd as being less than one year old.....No wonder we all spend so much time running up blind alleys in our reserach!!

Found the following in British Library Newspapers.
Which answers everything I hope ;D
Liverpool Mercury etc (Liverpool, England), Wednesday, July 15, 1885; Issue 11704
Fatal Accident at Wrexham
An inquest was held yesterday, at the Wrexham Infirmary. On the body Peter Parry aged 9, son of Joseph Parry, tailor, Southsea. Who on the previous Saturday was trespassing on the Wrexham,Mold and Connah's Quay Railway, and in attempting to jump on to some passing trucks fell down, and being drawn underneath the wagons, had both his legs nearly cut off. He died in the infirmary, and the Jury returned a verdict of "Accidental Death".
Seems to match the limited information provided.
