Hi, I have Robert born 5 6 1882 Llandegla and in 1891 Census in Cae Haidd, Minera- He was in Maelor View, Minera in 1901 Census-- I am afraid the info for Merianne was from family members and could be unreliable (SORRY!)Same source said Robert became a Shop Manager in the Liverpool area and once won a competition, which his parents often boasted about. I am sorry thats about all I know Tom

Hello Tom - I hope I am not going to send you on a wild goose chase - but in 1901 Robert William is described as a Grocer's Assistant.
In 1911 I found Robert William Davies born 1882 at Llandegla, still single, described as a Grocer and living as a Boarder at 8 Denmark Street, Wimbledon.
In the WW1 Service Records there is a Robert William Davies, right age, described as a Grocer enlisted at Preston 1917 in the Royal Field Artillery Reg. No. 229788 and discharged 10/10/1918. In his records his next of kin is his wife Miriam (nee Roberts). The date of their marriage is given as 11/12/1912 at Chelsea and there is one child Mary Gwendoline born 04/02/1914 at Lewisham. The address of his wife is given as 8 Rosedale Avenue, Gt. Crosby.
I know this is not definitive but there are a lot of similariities here. Regards - Margaret.

Hi Margaret, It seems more than definite to me and I am more than happy to put all the info in once I have absorbed all this news. My family source (sadly no longer with us) really tried her best and probably related tales which were told to her when she was young but had no proof. I must add she also gave me some fantastic leads which have proved successful such as this one and I will always be indebted to her as I knew so little about my ancestors. Thankyou for your help and may I be cheeky and ask if the 1911 Census has Rg no,s as I would love to beat a good friend to be first putting details of a 1911 entry in my Family Tree. Thanks again Tom

Hello Tom -
The Reference Nos from the 1911 Census are RG14PN3476 RG78PN130 RD40 SD1 ED14 SN95
On Free BMD the Marriage is registered at Chelsea, Dec Qtr. 1912, Vol.1, Page 964 This certificate would at least confirm Robert's father's name.
Regards - Margaret.

Thank you Margaret! Along with Tominera I am also interested in the same marriage, having spent lots of time searching for it without success. I had no idea about the Chelsea connection etc., and would not have even considered looking in that direction. :-[The details that I have seem to indicate that Minerahistory researchers have come up trumps once again! So many thanks to those involved. Locsin
