Hi All
I believe I've discovered a connection to this family from 1901
6 Mill Cottages, Bersham John David DAVIES, age 35, born Ruabon, Coachman Domestic Wilhelmina J DAVIES, age 37, born Scotland Bertie J. DAVIES, age 8, born Bersham John A. DAVIES, age 4, born Bersham
There is an 1892 marriage at Wrexham, St Mary - Plas Power between Wilhelmina James TEMPLETON and John David DAVIES
I have compiled a fair bit of information about John David's mothers family. I believe she was Margaret Parry of LLandegla, d/o Ebenezer Parry, shoemaker (1804-1858) & Margaret Roberts of Bryneglwys (1806-1843).
If anyone recognizes Bertie & John as "their's"I would love to hear from them.
Am also wondering about which family JDD might have been working for and where/how he met up with Wilhelmina. Perhaps they were both in service together?
Heather

Hi, Cadwgan Hall was in exact area you are referring to and had several wealthy (titled) owners (ie The Myddletons) who could have employed a coachman. It was demolished in 1967 but worth a google or two. The Walk refers to a converted grist mill which would fit in with Mill Cottage. I believe there would have been other large estates quite close by as well LOL Tom

Hi Tom
Thanks for the link to the information about Cadwgan Hall. I'm going to try taking a "walk" on flashearth off the Wrexham walk site!
I wonder there were any pictures taken before it was demolished in the 60s. I wonder if the Great Hall was reassembled at the Museum of Buildings? Off to google.
Thanks again! Heather

Hi, I would hazard a guess that there is a pic in the book Lost Houses in and around Wrexham-- I am sure someone will know as I do not possess it. Tom
