Hi I wondered if anyone wanted to help find out more about Josiah Burton b.c.1883. He has a very interesting service history and says he was from Pentre, Minera. He isn't one of mine but does he belong to anyone else on the board?

He joined the Royal Welsh Fus, labour corp on 12/5/1915 at Wrexham. Stating he lived Pentre, Minera. He was a 32yrs and a labourer. He was 5ft 9in and chest 34.5inch, with a scar at the back of his right knee. Thomas Burton, brother of Pendleton, Manchester was his next of kin at this time. Religion- Wesleyan Service no.642144
His next of kin is later altered to Mrs H.E.Burton, Bolton She is recorded as his wife, marrying St Paul's Church, Halliwell 13/1/1917 Hannah Elizabeth Owens, spin.
When demobed 26-3-1919 he gave his address as 18, Wake St, Bolton, character-good.

All born Minera Joseph Burton 58 engind driver in leadmine Margaret Burton 50 Thomas Burton 26 labourer in leadmine Josiah Burton 20 ditto 1891 RG12; Piece: 4616; Folio 79; Page 23 Pentre Minera Joseph Burton 48 stationary engine driver Margaret Burton 41 John E Burton 19 stationary engine driver Thomas Burton 16 leadworker Josiah F Burton 10 scholar William Burton 9 ditto, Interesting that in the next household is = Francis Burton 73 leadminer b Minera Hannah wife 74 B Minera Edward son unm 33 leadminer Poor Francis, imagine stiill working at that age in that job, mind you the way pensions are going now 1881 RG11; Piece: 5517; Folio: 88; Page: 1 Tyn Y Pistyll Minera , All born Minera Joseph Burton 38 engine driver Margarett Burton 31 dressmaker John Edward Burton 9 Thomas Burton 6 Josiah Francis Burton

Posted to ASC remand depot, Ormskirk - 12/15/1915 Latham Park Hospital,Tonsilitis - 23/1/1916 to 28/1/1916 Forfeits Corps pay until further orders - 8/11/1916 Transferred to class W Army Reserve under conditions? - 12/1/1917 and to be employed by Messers Dorman & Long, Iron & Steel works, Redcar, Yorkshire as a blast furnaceman. He was despatched 30/1/1917 to report there on 31/1/1917. Letter sent to his address Pentre stating he was required to rejoin the Colours but it was returned - 9/3/1918 Posted as "Absentee Reservist" - 11/4/1918 Letter from Bolton Police, difficult to read. Letter from Coedpoeth Police - 20/3/1918, Re Josiah alias S---- Burton, has not been seen in Pentre, Minera for over 12mths, he buried his father 3yrs ago. Previous to joining up was at Wrexham Union. No one appears to know address of his family. Telegrammes stating "he was brought back and dealt with" - 18/4/1918
