Who is Bond ? minerahistory.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=mineragwynfryn&action=display&thread=969&page=1 Seeing as we can`t find the connection with ` Bond`, shall we have a look at Edward instead. I`m sure Tom can fill in lots of spaces here DAVIES , EDWARD TEGLA ( 1880 - 1967 ), minister (Meth.) and writer ; b. 31 May 1880 at Hen Giât , Llandegla, Denb. , fourth of the six children of William and Mary Ann Davies . His father was a quarryman , who was badly injured in Moel Faen quarry but continued to work there and subsequently in Mwynglawdd chalk quarry , to ward off destitution. In 1893 the family moved to Pentre'r Bais ( Gwynfryn ) and in 1896 to Bwlch-gwyn . When he was 14 years old Edward became a pupil-teacher at Bwlch-gwyn school . So far I have . 1901 RG13; Piece: 5221; Folio: 14; Page: 20. 14 Wesley Road Bwlchgwyn William Davies 59 Stone quarry man b Llandegla. Wish you had said this before Tom ;D May be she's the Bond connection Any way this may help you Tom. 1911 census Mary Ann Davies Age 62 (b1849) LLandegla [ Welsh speaker Only] Occupation House Keeper Married 40 years (( When did william Die ?? )) Had 9 children. 6 Living, 3 Dead. Rhys Alun Davies Age 26. Watchman, steelworks [Welsh + English speaker] llandegla Samuel Davies Age 20 Reheating furnaces Charger, Steelworks [Welsh + English speaker] llandegla Address 18 PARK ROAD, TANYFRON, WREXHAM. With out knowing the full facts, then Mary Ann Could be a Lewis (Ruabon) 1868 Or Mary A Thomas (Ruthin) 1870 Or Mary A Thomas (Machynlleth) 1870. Why this one out of interest ?? Have you not got Edwards Birth certificate or his sister's, your GGmother ??

Hi, The only reason I have Machynlleth is it was the only one I could find at the time(Ruthin sounds much more Promising)--I am pretty certain I am correct re Mary Ann being a THOMAS as I had a neighbour who was related to the THOMAS family from Llandegla and when my neighbour was alive she told several bits of info which all fitted in perfectly. Your 1911 info also seems correct as in Teglas autobiography he refers to the poor twins who died. (If only I could read welsh I would be able to help so much more) William died 31 10 1908 and Mary Ann died 6 7 1922 aged 74.-I will put headstones on once I resize them. Lemuel Davies b abt 1891 was Teglas youngest brother and I actually remember him working in Brymbo Steel Works about late fifties--If only I had taken my mothers advice to chat to him as he was related-I did speak to him once or twice but it was not about family history I am sorry to say---Tom

Looking at Possible Death for William, is what made me include the 1868 Marriage at being married 40 years. But as I've discovered from 1911 census many included how long SINCE they got married and not how long married, in case of widow/ers then 1870 looks good I think it's safe to go for the Ruthin Mary Ann Thomas. As a Mary Ann Thomas was born in Llanarmon yn Iâl District 1848, ARMON/03/31and this comes under Ruthin. Marriage RUTHIN/04/68

I found Mary Ann Thomas in 1861 census. She was a Servant in Tryddyn. Working for Edward Ingman b 1797 Tryddyn. Found the other members scattered about. Seems the Father is Dead by 1861 census. What appears to be the mother and one son are living near High St Mary Thomas B 1821 LLanamon Samuel P Thomas B 1841 LLanamon (Son) Hannah Roberts B 1856 LLandegla (Daughter) ?

I also found the following which looks right if we have right Samuel. Samuel Parry Thomas b 1841
I then found a possible marriage for Edward Thomas at St Garmon, Llanarmon yn Iâl 1840 (Ruthin C30/1/18) to a Mary Parry, or a Barbra Jones

I have just found another bit from Teglas Autobiography and he says his mother told him her father was killed in a cart & horse accident on his way from Wrexham when she was only five years old and the family scattered.

Just a wee bit more from Teglas Autob. "My youngest sister Hannah(b abt 1877) lived all her married life in Colwyn Bay and I used to see her regularly, she lost her only son aged 9 yrs and had 4 girls but never recovered from the loss of her son." I have found a marr. in Jer. Chapel Wrexham 29 11 1898 James Davies Colwyn Bay to Hannah Davies, Blaenor, Bwlchgwyn which could be her ? Any more info welcome---Also his oldest sister Mary Ellen (b abt 1873) married someone Williams and had a son Emlyn Ffestyn who was a minister and they lived down south (guessing he meant S Wales)

Hi Everybody, As a member of the Davies Dynasty, I have taken a keen interest in all that has preceded. I do have slight misgivings about the Mary Ellen Davies spur. I already have her in my tree with a son Alun b 21.04.1892 & deceased October 1972 at Ruthin Hospital. She Married a William Jones 5.8 1902 at Pisgah Chapel Ruthin, and the issue of this marriage were two sons & two daughters. William Lloyd Jones, Idris , and Olive & Doris. There appears to be no mention of the Father of Alun? Your combined learned observations would be most welcome. ???Hope that your P.C. is no longer "poorly" Tom. Hen Locsin
